Notarybiz.com is So Not the BIZ

I did a closing for Notarybiz.com which required me to jump through some extraordinary hoops. My fee was $200. Almost 45 days came and went (during this time I had inquired about my payment. There was some hemming and hawing . Bottom line the person who handled accounts promised to call back concerning the issue. Keep in mind that the loan signed on a Friday afternoon.
When at last, I spoke with her (Amber) She says that I made too many mistakes on the loan. The title company said that I altered the document by placing a small check where the borrower was to sign and I missed too many notarizations. First , I told her how fanatical I was about checking my work for errors. Then, I told her that if the loan was incorrect why wasn't I notified of missed notarizations so that I could have corrected them. Afterall it was a Friday evening and the loan would not have gone out until Monday at the latest. She says maybe I can pay you $50 even though, Notarybiz.com did not get paid on the loan. So Amber says that the loan did not fund and they had to send another Notary to resign the documents. I stated to Amber that how was I to know if what she was saying was true since the signing company did not attempt to show me the errors that I had made even though they required that I faxed certain documents (30 pgs) back to them before I could drop the loan. Amber saad that I had done great work for them in the past and she would see if she could get them to pay me more. She said that she would try to get me $100 even though it was coming out of their pockets and the borrower was not happy about the resign. I said that I would take the $100 even though I felt like I was at a disavantage and that I needed proof that I had made all of those errors.

I could not rest or believe what I was being told. So I decided to go back to my file and call the borrower to find out if her loan funded and if she had to resign. The borrower totally refuted the story I that I got from Amber at Notarybiz.com. The borrower said that her loan funded on time and I was the only notary that she signed with. Am,ber lied continually during her account of the $200 closing. Today, I received a check from Notarybiz.com for $100. What would do in view of the newly found evidence? How would you proceed to get your money and present the lie to Notarybiz.com?

Janice, check with your county recorder to verify that the

mortgage was recorded with YOUR signature and stamp on it. If so, you have your proof.

Also contact the title company and let them know what Amber is claiming happened. Maybe they can put some pressure on Amber to honor her agreement with you regarding the $200 payment for this assignment.

Write them a letter detailing your conversation with Amber regarding the fraud you allege they are perpetrating upon you and give them a short amount of time (like 5 days) to pay your fee in full before you file a report with the Attorney General in their state and yours for fraud. If you had Amber’s allegations in writing, that would seal it. I agree with Teresa/FL to contact the TC and verify the loan closed and inform them of this situation.

I would call them, tell them that you spoke to the borrower, ask them flat out why they lied to you and stiffed you on payment, tell them that you expect payment within 3 days and that you'll be calling the lender and title company and loan rep and anyone else you can think of to tell them exactly what happened. Remind them it's very simple for you to get a copy of the DOT from the county recorder that will prove it was the loan you signed that funded. And that you'll be reporting them to the BBB.

Why didn't you call them the moment you hung up with the borrower? Why would you even have to ask what we would do? Surely you weren't considering just letting them screw you over like this?

Isn't this the signing service that was started by Liz, formerly of 24/7 NNN? Nice to see that she's still screwing people over as much as she ever did.

You don't name the TC, but I had the same thing happen in 2006 with Richmond Title. I closed the loan, and the terms were not what the borrowers had asked for or expected. I stressed the RTC so we could get the loan closed, and they could go from there.
2 days later I received a call from Richmond advising me of all the mistakes I had made - they said I "marked up the documents and drew all over them." I denied the allegation, as I had not done anything to the documents. Caller advised me that if I did not print out new docs, which they would send to me, and return and re close the loan, I would not be paid a cent.
I refused to do so because there was nothing wrong with the documents. Long story short; I never received a penny from Richmond for printing 2 BIG sets of docs and doing the closing.
Just for the heck of it, about a week later, I called the borrowers and spoke with them. I explained to them what Richmond told me, and they said that was not why the loan had to be closed a second time. They stated that they had contacted their LO during the RTC period, and voiced their concerns over the terms of the loan. The LO changed the terms of the loan, and a whole new loan was created for them. The prepayment penalty was changed, the loan became a fixed rate rather than an ARM, and the interest rate changed.
Ah...so we have a whole new set of docs now and another Notary was called to close the NEW loan, because the first Notary refused to reprint and reclose for free.
That was my first, and LAST experienced with Richmond Title. I would never work for them again.
