One of those weeks...long
Hello all. This is the first time I ever felt I needed to vent. A signing service calls me to do a signing Monday. Sure, can do- 40 miles round trip. Agreed on a fee, all set! I show up at the doorstep and the phone rings...cancelled! I apologized to the folks and said hopefully when this issue (lender not having appraisal being the issue) is ironed out, I will be back. I have been getting calls daily from customers ever since asking if I can come back. I called lender, nope not ready, underwriting issues, are you available tomorrow? Tomorrow comes, still no call to schedule. Customers keep calling and I tell them to call the lender. Signing service calls today, can you go in an hour? Borrowers have docs. I say sure, this is the originally ageed upon fee PLUS the trip fee from Monday right? Yes. Confirmation received.
Now, after all this, I get a call from a "manager", sorry we can't pay you this....we can only pay you XX total for the trip AND tonight! After a lengthy discussion, mostly trying to convince me why I should do it, I said, I am sorry but xxx would be my fee for the trip on Monday and tonight. I can't do it for less. You can find someone else and I will take my trip fee.
I am sorry but I have gone waaaayyyyy out of my way trying to pull this together and I don't deserve to be short-changed. Thanks for letting me vent!

Beware of this. I have been doing signings since 1990 and have had a few of these. If you have a written, faxed or emailed confirmation, go to BBB online and file. I doesn't always get you your money but BBB can sometimes help. Also go to www.notraybeware.com and list the bad guys.

Re: Food for Thought-someone posted on the forum
perhaps last year...about notaries and the errors we do indeed make and just because we don't hear about the mistake in the packages we return, it doesn't mean it was 100% error free. The mistake could be on something they were able to fax back to borrower or it was not on a document that didn't need to be notarized. I still recheck my work on every package and I never assume I have a 100% error track record with my work or life. I'd love to believe my track record is perfect in everything I do since I always strive for perfection.....but it may it keep me more on my toes to be on alert, while always double if not triple checking the work.
