Paypal payments
Has anyone tried getting an upfront PayPal payment from the signing agents? I am considering offering that option to everyone and only accepting assignments from"bad rep" companies if they pay upfront - at the very least a portion of the fee. Before I do this, wondering what experience others might have had.

If you reseach this subject utilizing the seearch feature, you will see this has been discussed before. Except for a few late-payment successes, I don't think paypal has been a successful method of upfront payment for anyone here.

It doesn't cost anything to set-up the Paypal. I've had it quite some time and never used it. Friday it brought in a nice payment-in-ADVANCE for a job I would've otherwise turned away. While it doesn't need to be set-up in order to take advantage of it (you CAN set it up after-the-fact, as all anyone needs in order to send you a payment through Paypal is your e-mail address. YOU then go in and register, in order to accept the payment and direct the account it should be forwarded to.)

I have a link to PayPal on my website that is used occasionally by folks w/non-loan signing work. They really like it as do I but these are mostly younger, student types for whom PayPal is very familiar. I kinda think a Signing Service that isn't going to pay you when the job is completed won't pay you in advance either, but there is always that chance. In any case, the account & link icon are free and both are easy to set up. I think of it as one more business enhancement.

Several SSs have paid me in advance (or immediately after email confirmation of completed job) via PayPal. Works great, never had a problem. QuickBooks entry easily handled. If only they all paid same-day.
Cheers! Susie

I had one company pay me via pay pal. I was charged $4.07 service fee. Its been a while. Has the fee gone down or been eliminated? I don't want pay pal if fees are charged.

I wasn't charged a fee, but I'd pay a paltry fee for a no-hassle, same day payment. It would be much like offering a 2% discount for payment within 10 days, as many businesses do.
Cheers, Susie

Mary,
I've had bad experiences with PayPal on several different occasions.
I wouldn't use them to pay for my garbage service.
Others say they're OK. Guess it depends!

My most recent PayPal experience paid off in spades. I purchased a pure-sine inverter from someone on eBay. It never arrived. Oh, the Seller took my money immediately, then ceased all communication. Since the Seller insisted on using PayPal for the transaction, the transaction was guaranteed up to $2,000. I filed a claim, and was refunded my entire purchase price, plus shipping costs, within 30 days with no hassle. Of the 300+ PayPal transactions I have completed as both sender and recipient, I have never had one go sour.

We have been using Paypal for all our billing and it has been working great. No prepays but as soon as the work is completed we bill-out via Paypal (the bill is emailed from Paypal) and in many cases the customer has been paying with a company credit card. I like it and with the history file created we have good billing accountability. Leonard www.txmns.com
