Pier National Notary

Has anyone had experience working for them? I am going on my 5th year as a signing agent so I am not a newbie.
Last night I took my first call at 5pm from Pier asking for an edoc notarization for 8 pm. Since I had a local 6:30 signing I asked if the docs were ready and were assured that they were on their way. Initial trailing papers like the RESPA and payoff info were emailed immediately. By 6:20 I still did not have the file to download. I called my 6:30 and rescheduled to 6:45. I called Pier 3 times and were asured that the docs were on their way. I was told to go to my other signing and come back home print out the docs and they would call their borrower (who I had called and confirmed 8pm with) and let them know I would be a few minutes late. I ran to my other appointment and returned home at 7:25pm to find emails waiting. I had to download the Print Utility for ELynx and for some reason I kept getting an error message and I was unable to retrieve the docs. I had a Pier contact who tried to help but to no avail. She asked me to contact the borrower and reschedule for the next evening. She said we "may have to backdate". I told her I would not backdate and she said well it will probably be ok depending on the lock. This morning I had 2 signings and phoned Pier at 11 am. I was told that they hired another notary to go to the borrowers place of work so their loan would go through. I understood and then asked if they would pay me $20 for my time and paper already printed. She replied by stating "we were lucky we did not lose the borrower." So, I stressed to make things work for this signing service and that is how they turn around and treat their notaries! I am at the point of just saying no to all edocs because in the long run it is a waste of time and money! Sorry for the length of this message but I am really ticked off that I was being professional and working with them placing my other signing service relationship at risk by changing the appointment for these guys. Is this happening to everyone or just me? What can a notary do when edocs are the wave of the future?

I have signed for Pier National out of Huntington Beach, they paid in 3 weeks and there were no hassles. However I had a signing similar to yours, the SS was English Spanish Notary. I was contacted for a signing about 1 hours drive from the office with edocs, I accepted the signing, and the time was set for 6:30 I needed to leave the office by 5:30 to arrive on time. Title kept sending me passwords that didn’t work on their secure website, when I finally got the password that worked it was for the wrong loan docs the time was 5:15 still have not printed the docs. Title calls and gave me a different password and said they would call the borrower to reschedule the signing time and that the borrower didn’t have a problem with that. By 6:00 I had the docs printed and called the borrower to let them know I was on my way, I was greeted by the borrower with F OFF! I was never paid for my time or printed docs which I invoiced for $50.00. The loan officer said they were not going to pursue the borrower because he had been rude to them also, but what about me the SA I worked and didn’t get paid.

"I understood and then asked if they would pay me $20 for my time and paper already printed."

excuse me you asked ? As a business I don't ask if I tell them I will be invoicing them for services rendered, ie, printing and would they like the printed docs back or shall I shred them? If they request them back they will receive them at their cost when payment is sent.

jmo........

I've worked for Pier National Notary and always good experience with them. Always pay within 30 days and never had any type of negative interactions with them. I would be happy to sign for them again. Sounds like this may have been one of those "nightmare's" we've all experienced with problems downloading the doc's. (especially EOM crunch) I will say I would expect to be paid for doc's already printed and I would invoice for services rendered. JMHO

See this and other posts is the reason I no longer accept work from so called signing services. I'd post my war stories but I did not get into this business to become a collection agent.

Thanks everyone for the feedback! When you work alone sometimes you feel alone. I need to use this site more regularly! I really appreciate the fact that I should have just sent an invoice. I need to be more assertive and stop trying to be overly accomodating.

Have a great weekend!

I'm glad I read you comments because I feel the same way. That the loans have to be signed that night but they what to the last minute to get the docs to you and then I can not prepare properly to have the documents ready. I had a signing last night and if it wasn't for the borrowers being my friends I would of at the last minute told them to I couldn't do it. I waited 5 hours for the documents and the company was back east and they were closed. It is very stressful and very time comsuming and the lenders want to nickel and dime you. I thought I was the only one feeling this way.

Thank you.
