SOX

Does anyone have any input on how to get paid by SOX....I have not idea how I did it but I let them get up to $900 in debt to me...I filed a complaint on BBB and they just said that I did not invoice them correctly/????

Re: SOX: Jamie, your post begs the question: do you have

the skill sets necessary for running a business? "...I have not idea how I did it but I let them get up to $900 in debt to me..." Not even a clue?

Or, is this a joke?

Re: Can't you read?

I am just amazed by the number and the frequency of the "SOX owes me money" posts. For three years I've been reading the boards and for three years I've seen the same post at least twice per week. When you google "sign on the x" the first two listings are to message boards warning NSAs about SOXs reputation. The official SOX website comes in at #3 after the warning posts. IMO, if SOX owes you money, it's your own darn fault for not doing your homework.

Re: Can't you read? Becca - while I agree 95% with you

I reserve 5% to say that you should never get more than two signings into a new company before you get paid by them for the first time.

Re: Can't you read? Becca - while I agree 95% oops

didn't finish...

Anyhow...it's understandable for the first and/or second signing for a brand new notary IMHO to get caught on but three or more signings or $9-0-0 . 0-0 is totally ridicululululululous!

Jamie, I think I would....

first try and ask them what you need to do to comply with their necessary invoicing policies in order to be paid. If that doesn't work I think I would file in small claims court and see if that prompts them to pay. This all may take time so I wouldn't count on anything soon. If these things don't work there have been posts here naming collection agencies that actually get results, at a price. This is such an unblievable amount it may be worth paying for collections. May I ask how old your oldest invoice is. Good luck.

i have found that delinquent/problem clients are very anxious to pay outstanding bills after they are served with a summons, and litigation is about to commence for collection of the debt. I have never been stiffed yet

Hey Jamie, I'm sorry you had to learned the hard way about Sox. In the beginning, I was anxious to get started and took on my first assignment with them. It was like they knew I was a newbie to this line of work and they pounced. It took a few months before I got paid but I did get paid! I was a royal pain in the butt and told them that I was going to post their name on every website warning other notaries about them and that I was going to contact the title company, the lender, the borrower and anyone else I could think of to advise them that they are stiffing their notaries. As you move along in this business, when dealing with a new company ask them up front what their policy is on payments. Also, don't put all your eggs in one basket. I have several companies that I work with who pay on time and those are the ones I deal with on a regular basis. For the new companies that call me, I try them out to see if they pay me on time, get the docs to me within a reasonable time frame etc. I have complied a list of companies that I stay away from. It's not worth the aggrevation!

Hi. I finally got fed up with SOX and decided to email the VP of Lending Tree (his name is listed in another thread) Within 10 minutes of my email SOX called me and promised payment was in the mail. Im not holding my breath, but hopefully I will get the money soon!
