Settlement Corp of NY
After my recent experience with Settlement Corp of NY, I would have to advise others to be cautious when accepting their jobs - they called me for a 38 page overnight HELOC and since the package was so small I agreed to a lower fee than I normally accept. Then the next day they e-mailed me the docs in a file which was double the size they told me. Of course I contacted them to get the fee adjusted for the e-docs (which they did), but they don't want to pay more for the larger package. Then there's the myriad of instructions. I am still beating myself up for not telling them to take a hike!

Bad move on your part...
The package is 50 pages, 2 extra copies of the mort and note for HELOCs. They are one of my biggest clients and trust me, if you do well it will pay off in spades. (very large volume business)
They avg 2 signings a day with me now, during peak time 2 years ago I would be out all day (local) just with them alone.

Just wish they had been honest about the package size
Not sure what you are saying my bad move was - I completed the job for them.
I just don't like working for companies that intentionally mislead about the package size. Since they know they require multiple copies of the mortgage and the note (and there were three copies of the 1003 in the docs), so why not be honest about how many pages instead of telling me it's only a 38 page Heloc?

What? You don't want to be mislead on package size on a volume basis?
Why Copper, that's so strange!

Whats a few extra copies, 3 minutes of your time and 2 dollars of your cost? Whining to them just puts a bad taste in there mouth. Once you have proven yourself to them as a good asset, you can make money with them.
Les has stated, once they know and trust you its a simple easy process.
The extra copies of the app and stuff means it may of been a VIP Client (I won't say who it is on the board)

I have worked for them for a couple of years. I guess it depends on who you speak to, but they are (in my estimation) a good company. I would work for them anytime. I think they have some fussy "hand holding" requests to start, but that goes away after you work with them awhile. As does the quibbling about fees. A good company, give them a chance.

I only worked with them once. They were great. They met my fee and I was listed on the HUD. I was paid in about a week.

I'm looking for their webite. Are they the same as American Search & Settlement of NY?
