To "PAW" Exactly!
Paul, Your comments about what James said about me on a board I don't visit has been forwarded to me via email.
**For that same $50, you could join the Signing Registry (---------) for a whole year (or more, see website) and ask to have a mentor assigned to you.**
I wholeheartedly agree with this. I have suggested this many times. However, you know...many times people want something for free and don't want to pay even the SR fee. They prefer to call who they perceive to be a giving, nice person who'll scoop them the goods for free.
Last time I was there there were wonderful mentors at that site. As a few folks who have contacted me over the past year know since that policy was placed on my site, I have never charged a dime to a notary for mentoring.
However, the $50 / hour was a protective measure. It gives me the ability to pick and choose who I choose to mentor.
When you have an 877# people will call you for all kinds of help...marketing...editorial assistance...just chatting about how to get started, etc. and so forth...then there's "please review my reverse mortgage presentation, see what you think...got any marketing tips to help me with? My business is going down the tubes after all these years!"
And, finally, you just know you have to figure out a way to measure whether or not people value what you do.
Thanks Paul, for bringing this giving and unselfish suggestion to notaries.

Hello All:
I have called Brenda several times over the past three years, and never paid a dime. I for one, am very grateful for her help. I miss Texas, but PA is pretty great and I am learning a lot as a Settlement Agent for NREIS.
Also, they are going to use my FBI background check from the SBA. I believe they will take the background check from this board, if enough notaries insist on using it.

Oooo, Shelley. . .
. . .in your profile - it's notary public, not republic notary.

That was thoughtless, Shelley, I apologize.
I should have emailed you privately.

Marlene: Thoughtless and WRONG!
If you read her Profile you'll see that she's Doing Business As Republic Notary. She doesn't say she's a Notary Republic or a Republic Notary or a Republican Notary.

Thank you, Shelley.
To be clear on what I have done as far as charging notaries... I have sold my reverse mortgage notes and I have sold my lists at reasonable prices. I have also given a ton of them away to help raise money for another notary. However, I have never charged any notary a fee for helping them, and I would do it IF I HAD THE TIME to do it. Otherwise, I sent them to other sources. I have never charged for just helping OR charged a fee for another notary's work, or to refer them to a client. However, I do reserve the right to charge for my time if I choose to.
I really appreciate your comments, Shelley.

Benda's been freely helpful to me on Texas issues. So far, I've not received a bill. I believe anything she and Paul say!
