Two firm suggestions for Profiles

If you want to look and sound professional, don't use a family snapshot as your picture. Do copy your Profile text and paste it into Word or some other program for spell checking. Please have a language and grammar fiend go over your Profile text. Spell checkers won't tell you that "insure" means "guarantee against loss or harm" and "ensure" means "make sure or certain". Be careful with punctuation (There were two borrowers ... one borrower's name ... the two borrowers' names).

The book "Send", about email, is great reading!

Yes, we've gotten lax in the United States. We don't have to be sloppy.

Good advice, Ernest. The misplaced apostrophe is one of my pet peeves!

Lovely advice, Ernest.

I wholeheartedly agree.

The world is becoming of two kinds of readers:

1) Readers who care about such as this.
2) Readers who do not care about grammar,
spelling or punctuation as long as they
get the meaning.

Think of #2 as a subset of #1. Though it really isn't, if you satisfy #1, #2 will be equally satisfied and you have a greater number of happy readers of your profile.

lol Brenda...

That's my bulldog, in the nicest way possibly put, sister's fav comment. "get my meanin?"
My Dad used to respond to anyone that asked him "get my drift?" by saying no, but I can smell it Smile

Re: lol Brenda...

And your sis was a givin' somebody the elbow in the side and speaking in that low tone like my mother whispers, "cancer."

Your daddy...well, that's just HIlarious.

Thanks for that...it's going straight into the Brendatoire.

Brenda, ya know....

I used to go get a pot of coffee and set aside a few hours to read your posts....I know, you got a life and you're trying to pass yourself off as not being here. Which is ok, I guess.

Re: Brenda, ya know....charm

It's okay if I'm here, as long as I wear the tin foil hat...

Oh, and just don't tell "them" that I am here.

This is like the old Standard Oil rule. Back in the 60's the employees of Standard Oil (Chevron gas stations) were not allowed to have facial hair. The reasoning behind it being that some people would be offended by facial hair on an employee while people would not be offended by a clean shaven employee.

i.e. You are less likely to offend someone while using proper grammer, punctuation, and spelling. You are more likely to offend a whole lot of folks by using lousy grammer, punctuation and spelling.
