UPS truck almost killed me...literally

On Monday, 4/02/07 while I was on my way to a closing a UPS full size truck travelling in the opposing lane of traffic locked up the brakes behind 3 stopped cars and hit me almost head on then rolled on top of my Audi partially crushing the roof. I was bleeding profusely from what fortunately proved to be a small cut on my head. after a 3 hour stay in the emergency room, I was released and am recuperating with endless sore, achy bruised spots and am eternally grateful to be alive. The damage to the car is unbelievable and looks like no one could have survived the crash. The UPS driver was obviously told to leave the scene ASAP and not talk to anyone as I didn't even know the driver was a woman until I read it in the next day's newspaper. Their insurance company called me while I was still in the hospital and followed up the next day because I didn't return the phone call. I told the gent that I really didn't want to talk to him and would have my attorney call him. I now have a new perspective on life, to be sure. Be safe, people....and take "nothing" for granted.

Thank you for sharing your story with us. You have been and are blessed and by sharing this you have made us all count our blessings and know there is more to life then these docs that we hustle around town with.
I am going to be a little more careful because chances are I would have been driving and doing ten other things trying to get to my closings and not been as fortunate as you.

I'm so sorry to hear this happened to you. I too had an accident on my way to a closing last September but it was nowhere near as bad as the one you just experienced. It shook me up nonetheless. I hope you will be fine. Take care.

I had a similar experience a couple years ago - part of the catalyst to quiting my corp job. You'll probably find yourself more sore tomorrow than today, but after that it gets better. I still hear 'the sound' though, all the time - I probably don't have to explain.

This is what I try and think - I try and think of what I might have been saved from. Obviously, it wasn't my 'time'. Perhaps it was the only way to save me from something that would've been more tragic. Perhaps I need to be STOPPED from continuing my journey that day, because something far worse was just up the road.

I was driving an SVT Focus - I still drive an SVT Focus, and I panic about what I'll do when this one's gone. I flew to Rhode Island to buy this one, and they don't make them anymore.=( I credit this car and all the myriad people who got this car from paper to production for my life.

Blessed BE! =)
