a signing that goes full circle....
When I first started as a signing agent, I finally felt comfortable with loan docs, when I got a call to do a durable POA. It was at a rehab center, for a newly quadraplegic man. I was very new to signing and very nervous, but the company walked me through the papers before I got there. As you can imagine, the situation was tense. Mr. & Mrs. were angry, scared, frustrated, and a whole slew of other things. Mr. was short with me. Mrs. was apologetic.
He didn't have much movement in his arms, but could make the marks on the paper. That was the task I was to witness. Nothing resembled the signature that he previously had used. Life for him had changed so much.
I didn't stick around, didn't ask any questions, just did the job and moved on.
As you may imagine, over the last 2 years I have wondered about him. How he was doing, how she was managing, was he still frustrated with life? I don't usually think about people after the appointment, but this was an exception.
Friday, I received a call from a gentleman looking for a mobile notary. He said he had some loan documents from his mtg co., and could I come to him to sign them...he is a quadraplegic, and cannot get out of the house.
Needless to say, he was doing well, accepting (to the degree possible) of his new life. She was strong, helpful, & loving. It was heartwarming to me, to see the love that they displayed for each other. Once again, we taped the pen to his hand, and he made his marks. The mortgage company didn't want the POA used.
Afterward, I got an update on the past 2 years. We sat and talked about things, as 6 young deer walked in front of his "window to the world". We watched the hummingbirds, and all the other birds. He knew everyone of them, their name and where they migrate to.
That's a signing that goes full circle.

Amen to that! And beautifully put, as well. A story like that can remind us of what is really important in life and to not sweat the small stuff. However many challenges we may have, we all - every one of us - have much to be thankful for!
