did I do this correctly?

I had a refi this evening with husband/wife on all docs. When I arrived I was told that wife is in Ca. and that escrow would get her signature and notarize it seperately. I spoke with this escorw agent ( a personal friend of both borrowers) and she assurred me that she would attach a loose certificate for Mrs.' notarization. Just in case, I crossed out Mrs.'s name, otherwise it would appear (after the fact) that I had notarized both borrowers' signatures.

How would you have handled this? Thanks, Patti

It sounds right to me. Notarys should always carry extra acknowledgements, so the one in California should be able to attach one, whether it is included or not. This comes up a lot. Also, if you do Power of Attorney, also cross out the name of the person who did not appear before you.
