ning
There seems to be some misunderstanding as to what ning.com, is. It is an on line service that allows ANYONE to set their own web site for FREE. It takes a few minutes and you too can have your own web site. There are over 40,000 sites. There are 2 Notary related ones that I know of

Re: ning - no confusion here...
Ning is like any number of community sites...orkut, myspace, facebook, etc.

Re: ning - no confusion here...
Brenda don't you know that we here on NR need everything pointed out to us? We don't know how to do any of our own research or Detective work.
It's like we sit around remenicising about the good old days, sitting around watching the TV with the volume turned off and just making up the words as we go along.
Some people think we need to be lead around by the hand.
No thanks I can walk all by myself.

Re: ning - no confusion here...
Overstating the obvious works, though.
Reminds me of a girl in highschool. She could sell ice to Anarctica.
We were selling ads on football player gear bags for fundraising.
She never would tell the bankers or the insurance company owners how much exposure their ads on the bags would get. She just kept saying over and over again, ad nauseum, "kids can take these to the beach in the summer and carry their sports gear in them in the winter."
Yeah, but how many of those bags get to the people who use our services?
Well...kids can take them to the beach! They can carry their stuff everywhere in them!
Really? Ya think? Hey, little girl, that does not answer the question.
Well...the guys will probably take them to the beach every weekend, and they are great for packing your clothes in.
She was great. They finally just said, "Okay! Write her a check and get her out of here." LOL...good times...what a sales gal she was.
50 of those bags were printed...to go to the beach(?)...and the ads were $350 each or $3000 for the complete side...for people to carry dirty clothes in...who'd never buy insurance or use a bank account in that town. Great civic contribution, but....at least the football guys could take them to beach...and that's really what the point was for the advertisers, now wasn't it? (Not.) LOL. $6000 for 50 bags in 1977. It was a FUNDRAISER, I know...but same principle applies here...overstate the obvious.
It works.

Re: ning - no confusion here...Brenda, I do believe that we
are dealing with several shills here whose only purpose is to harvest hits for the other site. It appears that through their benign and friendly approach they have formulated a comprehensive program to get people from other notary sites to log on to the site in question with the sole purpose of increasing that sites position ratings. This Ning discussion is only a smoke screen, but I knwo that you already know that. We need to educate the others about what is going on here.

There are about 20K+ notaries out there that "he" can reach by direct email, so can I. If you're or anyone is serious about getting the (educated) words out, let me know.

You are so right Andy, Check out message 187683 it is a

Shills? Plan?
I doubt that you'll ever convince the unwary participants of that.
There's no shame in believing people. Honest people generally do believe others. It's not being gullible, it's simply the golden rule behavior.
But once you buy into a con (think Amway) you will promulgate that concept until you run into your own brick wall.
A long time ago Lee/AR asked me me an honest question: When I was going to start my SS. I was working on our Tx network. I assure you I didn't cry and moan and scrape my fingers over the blackboards of my friends' souls so they would rush to my defense. I knew that time would tell the tale that I wasn't going to start an SS. One answer: No, Lee. I am not starting an SS. Time told the truth and I was not concerned by the question.
What we have here is at least five people just going nuts belying every hint of such talk about the site in question. That is some mighty potent koolaid if you ask me. If the answer is "no" then time will tell the tale. Case closed.
(And, Lee...that's no hint of ire towards you about that question. It was an honest question...much like we have reason to ask among ourselves here.)

Re: ning - Bottom line is
that you are promoting another notary site which is against the rules of this site. PAW has an excellent signing agent webring - do you see him promoting it on here? I also have a message board for Florida notaries - do you see me promoting it here?
Some of us respect Harry's rules and regulations.

Re: ning - Bottom line is
All you folks who have bashed the MNN have done more to promote it than those who actually like it have done. Every time you mention Scott or the ning platform or add more messages to threads that mention it, you are helping to build up the site you claim to find so objectionable.
The original objection was over what this was doing to the search engine results. Has anyone tested this objection to see if there have been any changes pre and post MNN to their own googling? Right now, the MNN has almost 2K members -- surely, if there were going to be changes, they would show up by now, right?
Really, if you want to follow Harry's rules, don't use this forum to trash another site, as that just stirs up interest in it as surely as using this forum to promote it does.

Re: Allow me to mention that the owners of MySpace-
are building a 26,000 square foot home in Lake Arrowhead on the waters edge, owners are 34 years old. Those hits apparently add up to a buck or two I guess.
