Debbie... you would be well-served to acquaint yourself with the ORANGE 'Search" button. For starters, search for message #185914 and follow the advice given there. Really.

Why should she: she is being given the information she wants
Just an other entitlement minded individual who has no interest in discovering anything on her own. Watch her get petulant the moment things don't go her way.

From what I've heard from various sources, an all-in-one *may not* have enough memory to be able to print large doc files that are often required in this business, since it has to share the memory with the various components. Plus, if it breaks down, you're not only without a fax, but a printer also. Just a couple things to consider, although it may work just fine for your usage.
You can print on all legal for "most" companies, but may need to have a paper cutter for those that require mixed sizes. You're better off having a dual-tray printer, but you can make do without. Having the proper equipment is essential to success and less costly in the long run.
Search printers here on NR using the orange search button for more opinions/details, as this has been discussed before several times.

Re: Also read Message #33325. Tons of info
I recently bought the MFC Brother 8860DN and it is a great machine. Prints 30 pages per minute and it copies at the same speed. I bought a remanufactured toner drum for $38 delivered (approx 7500 pages)
You need a fax to send out but we no longer need a receiving fax because all the confirmations and last minute excrow docs are sent as PDF file.
2 years ago we needed an efax to receive; but I have only had 1 fax sent to me in the last 3 months and it wasn't edocs.

Take a look at the HP 1320t. It is a dual tray printer that is easy to operate and maintain. The memory is expandable to 144 MB. It's probably all the printer you will ever need.
As for the fax machine, a good all around machine is the brother Intellifax 2820. It is a laser fax that also can be used as a copier and printer. That answers your question about the all-in-one. There is a brother fax machine that also has a scanner. It is similar to the 2820. Check out their website.
Main thing, don't skimp on these types of things. You don't want to have any regrets later on.
Good luck.

I totally agree. You definately need to shop around. Make sure it is uses only black toner. You dont want a color one. I purchased a 8150dn refirbushed from overstock.com. Saved myself $2,400.00. Its a big boy. You can find something smaller that will work just as good. I also have a Hp 3380 all in one for the scan and fax. Be prepared to fax 30+ pages at times.

I have found that having efax and a stand alone faxs works for me. When I was just using my Sharp Fax machine, the ink would run out very quickly and to make copies I had to run them back through the fax machine. The ink cost was quite high so I ordered MyFax for $10.00 per month, that way I could make better copies on my laser printer. MyFax's come thru my email and I can also send thru my email. They do have a page count system, if you go over a certain number of pages, they charge more. I have never gone over. I like the stand alone fax because sometimes I have to do "fax backs" and that is much easier.
