why there are so many doing SOX closings.....

XYZ promotes this ss a lot so the newbies jump at working for them.....

XYZ also tells the newbies to come to NR to get hints and feedback on how to start a NSA or notary business.....

I believe that SOX is using newbies as a business strategy

to maintain low costs. I am sure that we see on lythe tip of the iceberg here at NotRot. You figure if we have people complaining here that they have done several jobs and not been paid that there are probably many more who just give up and don't persue collection.

IMO...It could be that they pay XYZ for lead/list of newbies churned out from recent seminars. Otherwise, how can they keep stiffing notaries?

S/S like SOX don't have to pay.
The newbies pay to get listed at xyz

Mr. Lissemore you are so correct...

Companies do not need to pay for signing on to XYZ to get lists of notaries. If you hire notaries you can sign on for free in my understanding. If you were a bad guy you could simply look for experience level and commission expiry. Bingo...hire the newest.

How can we see what the companies see???

It requires signing up to see information on XYZ's Site. I'd really like to see who and what is there, and I'll wager that there are other people who would also....

Contrast that Site, by the way, with THIS Site!

Here, anyone can look for a Notary by ZIP Code without giving any information. That's A Good Thing, IMHO!

Brenda
You are right but it is even better.
S/S gets on list of signing companies for FREE.
Fish PAY to join XYZ and PAY to be NSA and PAY to take course and PAY to become certified and
PAY for BGC.
Fish now trys to make back money and Fish goes looking for S/S
XYZ catches the fisf, guts it and puts it on the plate of the fisherperson at no cost to them.
Maybe they should change their name to The National S/S Assoc

Re: Well Whadda ya know Zee.......

I knew there was something up with the questions, that seemed directly linked to a certain certification course. Refer to posting on the 16th by a XYZ graduate.
You just answered my question to this person.

Just a question, Zee...you said, "XYZ promotes this ss a lot so the newbies jump at working for them....."

Is there a specific page where XYZ has SoX?

688 National s/s
580 Regional s/s

And so I assume SoX is on that list?

Thank you for the info.

BrendaTX: the reasons are that

Way back when I started I was referred by a notary to take the xyz course.... and in the course they pushed two things... one being 1-3 places to go to get info on how to set up a notary biz, NR being the one they noted most as getting help... so it is a total shock to the newbies when they come here and are not spoon-fed

they also push that $50 signings are what to expect and all that is out there and "guess who" is a good company to work for....

As I have always been self-employed I knew that no one would do the former for you... and having a business means some self analysis, research, and lots of time to establish (unless you are in an area desp for notaries)
