to do a signing tonight? I asked the usual questions,type of signing,location,edocs? then imagine my surprise when the ss mentioned that the docs are dated for yesterday and would I date them as such!!!

No I won't do that was my response.

Shame on the Notary who took this appointment!!!!

So who was the ss? I think people should know these things in order to weed out the nuts and flakes. People think we have enough of them in California already.

Wouldn't you love to ...

Play dumb, take the assignment and just date them correctly. What could they do, except not pay. Or when you get to the signing call the loan officer, in front of the borrower and tell him that you just called the SOS and they advised you that it is against the law to backdate and is considered fraud. That it may fall under a felony for any and all parties involved, as it is regarding real esate. And that the SOS wanted to know what lender was advocating backdating as they wanted to refer them for an investigation.
