Base pay

I'm doing a survey. Would you advise me as to what most Notaries are getting for a base pay and in what state and area they live. I'm comparing it to what I work for.I live in a rural area just 58 miles from the Oregon border. I know some areas get more than the area I live in. I'm in Oregon. I service Josephine, Jackson and Douglas Counties.

Wouldnt it just be easier to look up fees on profiles since

you are a SS. Why have a survey that no one is going to answer?

Look at her recent posts, she got burned advertising as a

Signing Service and now want to see if anyone actually works for the NNA suggested fee. Some people never learn.

Realities

Peggy, it doesn't sound like you have much experience as an NSA, and yet you are trying to start a signing service? There are HUNDREDS of SS out there - what makes you think you can compete with those already established, in a market where they are dropping like flies? Read the news (and this forum!!)!

The statement that you'll pay provided you get paid underscores your ignorance/naivete about the NSA field. You pay your notaries first, then worry about yourself; they've completed the job you asked them to do, and they have no control over what happens after they return the docs. Further, they can't have a financial interest in the outcome of the loan. You need to do a lot more research. Take Sylvia's sage advice, and put some capital into your venture before you get caught short (and you will) and likely go belly up very quickly, leaving a poor BBB rating, collection agencies from unpaid notaries, and lousy credit in your wake. Finally, get considerably more mobile loan signings under your belt before you think about farming them out.

As long as you are getting what you are asking for it doesn't really matter what notaries in other states and areas are getting.

But, I think you are asking this in regards to your efforts to start a signing service. Decide yourself what fees you are going to offer, and then see if anyone is accepting your signings, and if they do, make sure you have the capital to pay them right away and not wait to see if you get paid. Starting a signing service is not easy! Those that have gone under can vouch for that! Get yourself a business plan, make sure you have title companies that are willing to use your signing service. Make sure you can guarantee your signing agents work - I always guarantee the signing agents work to the title companies! - because if they screw up the title company will come down on you.
This is not a good time to be starting a signing service, too many lenders are going under!

Re: Base pay - spnotaryplus

If you look at the message Charles referenced her profile is linked. And her website is also linked - and it has errors in it, unprofessional!

Re: Base pay - spnotaryplus

Thanks Sylvia but I was curious as to why she does not link the name of her company that appears next to her post. She added it in her message and I went to her site and yes I do agree with your comments on the site. Needs a ton of work.

She is something else.

Yesterday her message looked like a nine year old wrote it. Now she wants help on what to pay notaries.

Go back to what you were doing before, this business is clearly over your head
