But we're only charging $100 ...

Receive call from SS for a reverse mortgage signing.

Them: I see from your profile you are experienced with RMs. This is for a client that we give discounts to because they give us high volumes of work. It will be e-docs and the signing fee is $80.

Me: My RM fee is $xxx.00. RMs take a lot more time because you are dealing with older people -- the majority of them don't trust people when it comes to financial and legal papers, some can't see, can't hear, have difficulty in writing their name or sitting in one spot for any length of time. Many are lonely.

Them: We are only charging our client $100, so we will just find someone else to take it for the $80.

the sad part about this is that someone grabbed this up.

I too received a call last week for one of those, sounds like the same low balling SS that called me.You are correct, they do take much longer. When I asked her if the borrowers had completed their counseling session, she, of course didn't know what I was talking about. I believe the fee offered me was $ 60+ $25 for e-docs.She upped it to $ 90, that still wasn't enough..

They are time consuming but are good training

for more customers to come later. It takes time to understand the documents needed for presentation and then the borrowers are as what is described above. However, if they know you have the time and you present the documents well, you'll be happy to have helped them.

That said, I did receive between $125 and $150 for these assignments during my second quarter as a NSA. My minimum for these went up and the amount they want to pay went down so have not done many since.

Re: They are time consuming but are good training

This was for a company I've never signed for or heard of -- first red flag.

Additionally, using the excuse that they offer their client volume discounts doesn't cover my costs at all -- nor will it cover the costs of the person that accepted the signing.

Not me! I just got a call for RM for 2 PM Monday. I didn't ask the fee, as I have a conflicting appointment. RM's take time. My fee $150. (last one I did the closing fee on the HUD was $450, I did it for $125 like a sucker) Took almost three hours.

Many SS need a better business plan...

We should take less because they can't figure out a profitable fee/business plan? Gimme a break.

The last time someone gave me that excuse

my response was "well shame on you for not valuing your services any more than that".

My usual response is: Gee, I'm sorry you couldn't negotiate a better deal for your company.

I like your response better than mine. Guess I'll use that in the future.
