Certified Notary Agents/ signingagent.com
I was wondering if anyone has taken the course from the NNA? I was wondering if it has made any difference in the quantity of settlements you have received or if you think it is worthwhile in this market.

I never got a job from them and the test was open book, so that should tell you something.

It is only a soud: Natianal Notary Association. I was certified by California School of Notary and NNA. I can't compare them what so ever. I use all my materials, certificates, and tips which I got from CSN. I am an active of NNA since 1995 and probably will not be anymore, and since that I've never received any job from this sourse. Something must be done in this organization. I am not only who says these things about them. I am busy enough now, but from my personal contacts, NotRot, and Cafe. NNA's motto is Money, Money, Money..... I'd like to see prons and cons. I wish and expect changes they create.

I joined and have been happy with it. It has already more than paid for itself.

Believe you also need a Title Producers License (classes & $$) in MD. Forget the NNA.

What is your opinion of the NNA?
If you think, like so many of us do, that they're a money grubbing organization who have done everything that they can to make sure none of us can earn a living by being a signing agent, then it shouldn't matter how much business you might get from being on their website, you shouldn't be supporting them out of pure principle.
However, if you truly don't have a problem with the NNA then I'd suggest reading older messages on here until you develop one, lol.

LOL @ develop a problem
I let my NNA membership run out this year and have no intention of renewing it. There may be one thing that gets me back into it and that would be if I cannot find another entity to issue electronic notarization status for FL notaries.

Re: LOL @ develop a problem
Thanks for all of your opinions. I am reading them and I will take the suggestion to do more research. I put the question out there earlier so as to help me make the decision. I do have reservations about it but I have also spoken w/ a title company here and the person said he only uses notaries from signingagent.com.

Re: LOL @ develop a problem
I took the course and I learned somthings from it. As for getting business from them .....yes I have received calls for work from their site but not compared to the calls I get from being on NOTROT or other sites. So far NOTROT has proven to be better. Don't know if I will renew my membership with them though. Better to put your money on a site that works for you.
Hope this helps.

Hi Monica -
>>>...I have also spoken w/ a title company here and the person said he only uses notaries from signingagent.com.<<<
IMO, he's a MoMo. NNA certification doesn't mean a thing. Just look at some of the questions posted by newly Certified NNA Signers on this forum. Maybe you could copy and paste them in a form letter to this scheduler to get your point across? Maybe then he would see what is really going on out here.
I gotta say, you have some great TPL/NSA's up there in MD and might want to think about networking amongst yourselves. Loretta is, and has always been, a great source of information and a steward to her profession. I can tell you, from first hand experience, my network affiliation has gotten me WAY, WAY, WAY more exposure than the NNA ever did.
Just something to think about.

Re: LOL @ develop a problem
I let my NNA membership lapse several years ago, so my info may not be current, but at that time, there was no way for me to view my listing to see how it looked to potential hiring entities in comparison to my competition (unless I created a fake ss listing). I couldn't tell if I was on the first page or the twentieth page and couldn't be sure the information was correct. I think I was told at one point that they rotated the listings, which may have been the case, but the only calls I ever got were from the low-paying companies. It was not worth it to me. Anymore, I'm with CaliNotary; I wouldn't have a membership on principle, unless they make some very dramatic changes in their business practices and I don't see that as too likely. jmho

Re: LOL @ develop a problem
Hello all. I have something to add here. I considered becoming a member of the NNA to have access to signingagent.com. I was not interested in the certification course because I have been handling mortgage loans for 15 years and felt it would be unnecessary. I called the NNA to ask how they list notaries on their website. I.E. is it by zip code like Not. Rot.? Would I get the same opportunities as their certified agents or is there a hierarchy where they get better status?
I was told by their representative that I would be listed below all of their certified agents who are members. Additionally, I would be listed below their background checked members also because I didn't buy THEIR background check. I purchased my background checked through LexisNexis which is the vendor they use but I did mine independently. Basically, I would be at the bottom of their list. I made the decision that I would not participate based on this practice.

I rest my case...
And they probably wouldn't tell you how many "certified" notaries they have listed or what type of hierarchy is used to put each of those categories of people in some kind of order.
