Create own loose acknowledgments and jurats
Can I create and print my own loose ack's and jurats with compliant wording as opposed to ordering them as I have done in the past?

I print mine all the time. I used to just use the template from the state handbook. Then I discovered the American Society Notaries certificates on a CD (was about $15) and now I print them from the CD. I love that CD!

I create my own in Word and include wording to reference the doc to which it is attached. Do remember that most recording offices want a whole letter size sheet.

I always print mine out
and have my information inserted so I have less to fill out (printed name, commission expiration, etc. I'm too frugal (was going to say "cheap" to pay someone for something I can do myself.

Why not?
As long as you know the correct form for your state, there's no reason you can't create and print your own. And there's nothing stopping you from adding a section below the notarial block that identifies the name/type of document and the number of pages. There's nothing magical about the forms you can order online...
Be aware that some county recorders are requiring that loose certs must match the size of the document; you should print them on both legal and letter size, and keep a supply of both.

Re: Why not?
Thanks for the heads up Mike on that info about the loose matching the document size. I might have been inclined to attach a letter size ack to a legal size doc since the majority of docs are printed on legal size.
