Don't you just love it?
Just got a call from LandAmerica; LA: Hello John? This is ___________ from Land America. Me: Hi, how are you? LA: I'll be better after I get your answer for this loan. I need to know if you're available for the 23rd for San Francisco (zip code 94114). Me: I think so. What do you have? Overnight docs? LA: No, it's e-docs, one loan. Me: Sure, my fee is $XXX.00 LA: Wow! Really? Me: That's what I've always charged. LA: We have you down for $75.00 Me: Not me, I don't do e-docs for that amount. LA: OK, I'll have to see if, uh, uh. I'll call you back. Me: Sure. (Not holding breath)
Where do these people get their information? So XYZ graduate will take it I'm sure.

LandAmerica pulled that on me too earlier today
The scheduler couldn't believe I charge XXX for edoc closings. She claimed that their records show I take XX for those closings. When I laughed and said I hadn't taken that in over 4 years, she protested that their records show I had registered XX as my fee less than 2 years ago. I was pretty miffed as I have corrected and corrected and corrected that false info every time they call and am always assured they will "update their system" to show my current fees. The girl got pretty upset with me that I wouldn't take a Countrywide Full Spectrum with all those faxbacks for XX. She said that if I wouldn't take it, she'd just have to remove me from their system. I told her fine, works for me as I won't work for that low fee, especially Countrywide Full Spectrum. Funny thing is I just got a call at 6:25 PM from a different scheduler asking if I could do one in an area 23 miles and 45 minute drive from me that was supposed to go at 7:30 tonight. I quoted my fee, which is my regular fee plus an extra $25 for the faxback hassles, and he quickly came back to me with approval.

They think we work for free... they probably won't be calling me anymore, I upset the last scheduler that called me a couple months, ago, I went into why $85 is unacceptable in Maryland... going over her how much it cost to keep a title producer's license and a hefty amount of E & O and she got snippy with me telling me she knows... ok yeah right, your in Pittsburgh... are you holding these licenses and insurance, I don't think so....

I'm pretty fed up with Land America lowballing fees, and decided I wouldn't put up with it anymore. Last week, someone called and wanted me to do a signing that night for $85 with edocs. I said no, my minimum fee is $100. She said, "I can pay $95 but that's it. I'd have to go to a supervisor to go any higher." So I said, "Ok, I'll do it for $95." Then I got the confirmation for a CW-FS that listed a bunch of demands and requirements for a 35 page faxback. I called her back and said, "You didn't tell me about the faxbacks. The fee is $125 for Countrywides with faxbacks." She said "will you take $110?" I said no. Then, guess what? She was mad, but was able to approve the $125 right then and there, and didn't have to ask a supervisor. Then another one called yesterday and offered $85 again. I said no, it's $100 without faxbacks. She went nuts, and started yelling at me, telling me there are plenty of notaries in my area, blah, blah, blah. I couldn't believe it. I told her to take my name out of their system. I'm not that desparate.

Me too,different excuse
I was told by the lady that called me that she was "helping out in another dept" and didn't know what the fees were.I asked how she found me."You're in the system". okay, don't you see the fee schedule there for this type of closing? Yes, but I'll have to get approval, and call you back...that didn't happen.BTW she offered $65.00 with e-docs....
