  Duplicate Payment
I got a check last week for all my invoices for the last 2 weeks of July. Today, I got another check, a duplicate. I called to company to tell them I was returning it, that they had overpaid me. They were so greatful. It's not easy being honest. I sat there for a moment staring at the check, it was over $1,000 dollars.

Honesty is the best policy. You will be rewarded in other ways. The best sleep you can get is with a clear conscious. Proud of you.

Keep the check and apply it to future work from them...
then you'll have already been paid in advance!

I have only been working for this company since 6/15 of this year. They have been fantastic, pay fast and pay extremely well. I have been told that they have me on 1st call and they give me two hours to respond. I do not want to spoil that relationship.

Definitely a smart move! If it were a small amount, I would give them an option of keeping it and applying to future work or returning it. Business wise you need to give them an option, since it was for such a large over payment you definitely did the right thing in returning it. You will make out in the long run.

Oops, should have prefaced with If you have pay issues, then
keep the check and credit them. You did the right thing here.

Re: Oops, should have prefaced with If you have pay issues,
It has happened to me in the past and I always call them and let them know that they paid me a print fee on something that I never printed and they always tell me to keep that as a bonus.

  Dear Margaret
Good for you for doing the right thing. You showed them that you have not only honesty, but integrity by calling them up.
  Have a beautiful evening, Nancy

Thanks Nancy, I put the check in the mail this afternoon. This was not a small overpayment to give them credit. It is also easier on me to reconcile my receivables.
