Financial job cuts soar on housing woes

I received a call and an email today from a gal that had been downsized from her position at large state-wide Engineering firm. She was thinking the mobile notary business was a perfect opportunity for her since she was already a notary and was amazed to find out that people pay $50 for a notary to come to them and notarize documents.

My first question to her was "do you watch the news and do you have any idea what is going on in the Real Estate and lending markets?" She said she did not want to "do" loan closings, but wanted to offer mobile notary services only. I asked if she had ever seen a copy of the state manual, she said no. I said "you'll have to do an awful lot of $10 notarizations to maintain a descent income". I told her most people in the biz are now focusing on network marketing opportunities and maybe she should as well.

Sometimes, the truth hurts.
