Interest Piece of information
I was talking to a lady the other day and she mentioned that she knew someone else in our area who was doing what I was doing and was getting "scads and scads" of work. She also told me that this person charges xx.oo dollars. I said to her, how can she afford to do that? She proceeded to tell me that she, the lady I was talking to, was paid by this notary $10.00 every time she ran off the notary's documents. I then asked her, well who pays for the toner and drum when you need one? Her answer was, "I sometimes make $40.00 a day to run off her documents". Well, now there is one idea as to why some notaries are taking the "low ball" assignments.
But, to me, this would appear to be a breach of confidentiality on the part of the notary. what is your take on this?

$10 to print two sets at 100-150 each = 300-350 pages....and she feels good about this...
As to the confidentiality issue, I agree - guess it's about as private and secure as sending the docs to be printed at Kinkos, though...IMO

Yes, Monica according to our profession this practice is not acceptable. She puts her, and company's credibilities under the risk. The client's information is very, very confidential and we have no right to disclose it to anyone no matter how overwhelmed we are. If it is, let other notary to take care of it.

Never should docs be available for others to see. Private info. must be protected. You are opening yourself up to a potential lawsuit if you allow others to see the docs.

To that notary who is paying $10 and letting the docs out of her hands and into another's....what I'd like to say is....well, what comes to my mind is what Chevy Chase used to say to Jane Curtain on SNL. Yep...that's exactly what I'd mutter to myself....mutter, mutter..."Jane, you ignorant..."
