LandAmerica OneStop

I recently applied to get on their list of signing agents but they won't process the application without a letter of recommendation from another signing or title agency. How can I get this? I have worked for over 25 different companies and contacted the two that I worked for most and they both said they don't do this. I can't figure out why one signing group would want to recommend an agent to work for a competitor so what's in it for them? Anybody else encountered this problem?

Yep - same situation for me - just recently....when I told them I couldn't get a reference letter because it wasn't their practice I was told "We'll waive that requirement if you'll accept $65 per signing and $25 for e-docs" - since I won't accept that I'm not "hired"...

Re: Although I should add here...

I AM in their database as I submitted my info in 10/06 and have done two signings for them....I think they call me when they run out of Database people..<G>

not even worth going through all the hurdles they ask you to do for what they pay.

I was not in their database and was called for a closing. I am still waiting on payment but it should arrive anyday now. They emailed me a new agent package and I saw that requirement on their cover. I just made a note that said something like "Completed a closing for you on xx/xx." There were no errors in the closing so that should be reference enough! I have not heard from them again though. I am not sure if it is because I did not send them a letter of reference or because they have not needed me.

Extremely low pay organization. Most SS's pay better than LandAm.

I have the same problem. I was able to provide an email I received from one of my clients thanking me for a job well done when one of their lender clients told them of the great job I did on a loan.

They wouldn't accept it because it was addressed to me and not to potential employers. I am still scratching my head on this one.

I work for them. They don't pay good, but I have 80% assigments from this company. And I am paid after 10-14 days after signing. I have problem with schedulers, because every time I talk with somebody else and sometimes they don't know what they are doing.

and they are notorious for asking you to do a single closing and you agree to the fee, then all of a sudden an hour before the closing, docs pop up and its now a first and second... then you have to go back and renegotiate the fee... that's fun, when they are penny pinching you to begin with.
