LandAmerica Onestop
Get a call wanting a signing done today. Give price of $150. Get confirmation showing fee of $75. Reply to scheduler that I need a confirmation showing correct fee. Scheduler replies that she sent 2 confirmations each showing fee of $75. I reply that I only received 1 confirmation, and regardless I wanted just 1 confirmation showing correct fee so no one can say 1 of the confirmations was sent in error later, or else they needed to assign the signing to someone else.Scheduler replies she sent 2 confirmations and I was still assigned to do the signing. I reply that since you cannot understand what I am saying I am refusing the signing. This all happened 3 hours before signing time so scheduler still had time to find someone else. I hear no more after my last e-mail refusing the signing. One half hour before signing e-docs show up in my inbox. I still have not received the second e-mail showing other half of signing fee. Guess the lowballers thought they could get me to go ahead and sign for half fee. NOT.

All of a sudden, these people have forgotten the fee schedule you submitted, if you did have one in their system.Regardless, what used to be a "good" company to work for has gone the way of say Servicelink, or some other lowballing SS...This business is trruly gone to the dogs.I'll remember these companies when the business turns around...Then they'll be playing "my game".

I used to do a ton of work for them at $xxx.00. the last time they called they agreed to my fee and sent a confirmation for that fee..... but the edocs never arrived. The next day they called and rescheduled. when they sent the confirmation for that day it was $75 period including edocs and faxbacks... when I called to ask where the other half was i was told I had already agreed to do it and that was the fee. I told them to find someone else as that was NOT the agreed upon fee esp w/ edocs and faxbacks.
sad.... they were a great client at my fee.

This same thing happened to me.I was doing close to 20 a month for Nationwide/Land America. Then, all of a sudden the fees are reduced $ 25.00, no notice, take it or leave it attitude. These people pay on time( within 30 days) and for the most part the docs arrive in plenty of time for the closing. No surprises, no shady brokers involved.Nice fairly easy closing.Hard to lose business like this.

Had an issue with them last night also. Got called at 7pm for a 9pm. I stepped away from the borrowers I was with to haggle with them over fee. I said take it or leave it. You call me 2 hours before the closing and expect me to jump for you? She said she would call back. She did call back not once but twice. Once to ask if she did get my fee would I do it. I said yes. She called again and said I had the fee. Rush home, get the confirmation, call the borrower and he doesn't know a thing about closing at 9pm. He said it was for 5 on Sat. I try and call LandAm, can't talk to the person who scheduled it. The person I am talking with doesn't know a thing about it. They call me again to cancel it. Obviously they found someone else to do it cheaper, but what a hassle. They do pay ontime, but I'm going to put up with their bull. What do they expect? More I guess. I was more than willing to go back home, print docs and back out at 9pm but I will not do it for less than my fee. It was not out of line with my fee at all. It is what I normally get for any closing. I really thought I should get more but didn't even ask. Just venting. Thanks

Took a job for them on Wed. for a Thurs 7pm. Called to confirm and was told the borrower works in the evening, it must be in the morning and in the next town. Long story short-Land Amer could not get the docs to me in time for AM apt and refused to pay an additional travel fee to suite the borrower. I called borrower back and find out I had been talking to a friend of borrower "looking out for her best interests". Get the actual Phone Number for the borrower, call and find out her husband is out of town. Needless to say, the back and forth calling was getting old fast. At least I was able to talk with a live body on a Saturday in regards the 2nd set of docs that included 12 attachments, some incomplete duplicates of docs in the lenders file. It's not worth all the trouble!

They called me yesterday to do a refi today I asked if it was edocs, it was, gave them fee of $xxx. The guy said no problem but I need to double check if it will be edocs and call you back. Which I thought was strange since he JUST said it was. So I told him my fee for overnight docs as well, hung up, figured I wouldn't hear from them again and lo and behold, I was right.
I guess that's a nice change of pace from "let me get that fee approved and call you back". Strange that he didn't even try to lowball me, just said "no problem" when I told him the fee.

In my case she said no problem also when I stated my fee. I guess they are trying new tactics with accepting quotes then sending incorrect confirmations with the fee they want to pay. I still have not received the mysterious second confirmation that supposedly had my other half of the fee. They must have naive signers who will go out and complete signings with a promise of a second confirmation that will come later showing the difference. Don't count on it.

I recall one not too long ago for a co (may have been LandAm) where they said that in order to meet my fee, they would have to put it on two separate confirms to get it into their system. (It might have been a piggyback - I don't remember and don't feel like looking it up right now... ) But I did get two separate confirmations and did get paid what they promised. If I hadn't received the 2nd confirm, I probably would have done the same thing.

i've never had a fee problem w/them; however on one occasion they made a mistake w/the borrower's last name. i had to rtn (w/pay of course) and they'd told the borrower it was MY error. i simply showed the borrower the error on the docs (not mine) and my new confirmation for pay which i wouldn't have if it had truly been my error. I must say though that i have had some rather interesting manuevers tried on me to get me to accept low fees. i'm really glad that i never quit my day job so as to be 'forced' to consider the low fees. i do excellent work and both borrowers and clients are pleased. if they want a good honest worker, well that's me, but not for free. you get what you pay for.

I did a signing for them last month (7/26) and called for payment today. I was told that they needed the tracking # to close out the order. I replied, "Your company provided the tracking # with the airbill with the loan docs." He replied, "Payment will be sent within 14 days." Also note, the tracking # is NOT requested on their fax back notary checklist. Are they in some kind of cash flow trouble to hold back on payments using wrong excuses?
