Maybe you can pay THEM to give you work. NOT! Don't know how these ss come by their thinking process.

I sometimes think these companies give their schedulers an incentive when scheduling a notary to do a closing.....Any amount below the allowable fee goes into the scheduler's pocket! Or perhaps a percentage of the allowable fees...The SS would be in a win win situation except for the fact that they would probably only get inexperienced notaries and have all kinds of mistakes on the documents.

There seems to be quite a few new notaries in this area taking the $45 or $50 dollar assignments, which they are going to find out Doesn't even begin to cover their time and costs!

Happens all over, I know a few that will take lower fee's and even back date. Had one last week, LO wanted the doc's back dated by a week ( SS was great and said not to do it ) but both the SS and I knew a notary would back date it.

Ocean County NJ records are online, and I have the edoc package if I want I could burn that notary so bad who back dated the package.

I believe that, if these notaries that are accepting the low-ball assignments, would just look on the hud and see the notary fee that is being paid - and line that up with what they are actually being paid, that maybe, just maybe, they might get the drift and quit taking those assignments. I actually had a closing the other day that paid me what I asked but when I looked at the HUD I just about fell out of my chair. Just had to reply to this message.

I get this Alot being in Alaska. I will not accept any assignments less than $100.00 - I have had companies say 'Can't you Lower your Fee?" My response was - "You want to make money, well, So do I. " And its True - with anything else - You're gonna get what you pay for.
Before being a Notary Signing Agent, I worked in Lending (both consumer and Commerical) for almost 4 years and handled SBA Loans, Receivables financing and even loans on a heli copter and small aircraft, and a Preferred Marine Mortgage! These companies seem to think that a Notary is a Notary - But experience can make alot of difference..
Something that was new for me last week was I accepted two RESPA closings - not full loan signings.. just the Prelim stuff.. well I think those take LONGER even tho there is fewer papers to sign.. since its the early stages, the borrowers have MORE questions, not Less.. when they sit down to sign the final loan papers, most of their questions have all been answered so it goes by Quicker. Next time I will ask for More on a RESPA, as my time is worth something too, not just the size of the package.
