NJ title producer?

Why do so many title companies require notaries in NJ to hold a title producer license? It's not a law as far as I know... I don't expect it's cheap to attain either. What else could I do with the license other than loan signings (which don't pay much any more) if I decide to get one?

A title company called me about that as well a month ago. I asked them why and it's for different reasons. The one reason "they" mentioned (keyword "THEY"Wink is that they wanted me to do title searches. I never heard of this before so hopefully someone who has a license can give more information on this forum.

That's all they told me.

You can examine and mark-up title, solicit or negotiate title policies (i.e.represent a title insurance company to sell title insurance and collect premiums). You can find information re: the approved schools in NJ and further information of the NJ Banking and Insurance website - http://www.state.nj.us/dobi/inslic.htm
