Notary Pro-What a Joke
I just got a call to do a signing for Friday with the docs going to the Borrower. Now, I am in a fairly rural area and the signing was not that far from my home. However, when I told them what my fee was, they said "oh with the mortgage industry the way it is, we are only paying $45!!! Are you kidding?? I am wondering why they are rated at 3 1/2 stars in Signing Central. Maybe I cut my nose of to spite my face but I was not walking out the door for $45, that's for sure. Maybe they could get someone from 15 to 20 miles away to do it for them.

What does the slow down in the Mortgage business have to do with anything?(Like the price of gas?) I’d like to see the HUD. Probably a $300 closing/remote signing/notary fee. That the BORROWERS pay, and the SS makes a phone call for. You do the work for $45/they keep the difference, or most likely all of it. I know times are a bit slow, but the need for good NSA’s is not going to go away as long as there are Title Companies doing business nationwide. Let’s hope it slows enough to get rid of these deadbeat, cheap, SS parasites!

I hope you added your own rating since. Even their old rate of $50 was too low, imo. Good thing you made sure to confirm your fees on that first call!
I think lots of the ratings must have been by fairly new notaries who seem to feel that getting paid anything in a timely basis qualifies a company as good. There have been threads on this before, but we can't emphasize enough that we should have higher standards than that when rating companies. Again, jmho.

I did a search on Notary Pro before I posted and someone with the initials jm was very happy with them!! I wonder what kind of payment he/she accepted!!! I'm sorry - I could sure use the money with things being slow, but I'm not undercutting MY OWN fees nor anyone else with experience. On the other hand I had a call from Superior Closing Services out of Jacksonville, Fl this morning for a closing tomorrow, told her what my fee was and she didn't even blink an eye. Go figure.

Not ALL SS's are parasites! There are some good ones out there. Turn down a $50 job, and get a $150 one, or take the $50 (because it's slow) and lose money, and have to turn down the $150 job. But what is MORE important, by accepting a $50 job you are enabling the exact kind in SS that we need to get rid of. If no one will work for them, they will go away!

Re: They callled me too.........twice today
to make sure I said no to traveling over the bridge into BKLYN for $45. I suggested they find some fly by night notary in the neighborhood who may screw up the docs for them to do it. I did not waste my time quoting my fee since the lady was to quick talking to let me get a word in other than at the end of her speech. Hence...find someone else. $45 does not help at all.
Good news is that two other calls came in at higher payments. Glad I did not miss thse for a $45 signing.

Amen Les! Last time they called me I quoted my fee, they said "oh! you raised your fees!" I told them I did not, they said they would take me off their list, I said "good bye." Like Les said, "If no one will work for them, they will go away!"

I would not get out of my house for less than $100.00....I love when they start rambling and at the end said; "we are paying 65.00 and the docs will be there shortly" and I say "no thanks....

They don't tell you unless you ask, but their no sign trip fee is a whopping $20.
