Temp is going to be 84 on Thurs
Kind of low for this time of year. You can get good italian food almost anywhere in Little Italy. Have a good time!

I'm going there on the 30th. What is the best way to get from Newark airport into Manhattan. I looked on the internet and it looks like the rail system. Is that the railroad rather than the subway? I need to end up on 5th Ave. but it looks like the rr goes to Penn Station, figured I can take a cab from there.

I don't know about coming from Newark. I'm on Long Island. I usually take the LIRR to Penn then take cabs from there. Subways are very confusing unless you use them all the time.

I'm a native NYer. I'm not sure what public trans operates in and out of EWR but I'm sure there is something that gets you into Manhattan. I lived on LI and commuted via LIRR or drove in for different events. Try these sites http://www.panynj.gov/CommutingTravel/path/html/ http://www.newarkairport.com/CommutingTravel/airports/html/newarkliberty.html
If you get into Penn, you can take a 7th Ave exit up to the street and walk a couple of blocks down to 5th Ave. Many years ago I worked at the Empire St Bldg. on Fifth between 34th and 35th Sts. I'd get into Penn and be up on the 23rd floor in 10 minutes. Great shopping on 34th St and along Fifth Ave.
Good food of EVERY kind is all over Manhattan. If you have time, go to Little Italy down on Mulberry St. Excellent outside fruit and veggie stands, good restaurants. Mama Leone's was ok years back but the best Italian food is at the smaller, less commercial places.
NYC is a prospering fun place these days, despite 9-11. My bro oversees several buildings in NYC for the company he works for, and he says the city is much cleaner than years ago. He's been working in the City for 35 years.
Lots of great things to see and do. Enjoy!

Re: Temp is going to be 84 on Thurs, Nice to hear that
NYC is getting better. Years ago was when I was there last (Late 1960's) I didn't like the City at all so I've never gone back. I like big cities Boston, Philadelphia and San Francisco being my favorites in the US. Perhaps its time to check out NYC again Thanks!

I've been to NYC a few times over the last 5 yrs. I was so impressed with the changes that were made since my previous visits in the 70's. They have done a great job keeping Times Square clean. It looks like they have merchants associations, probably with city assistance, where they put people to work cleaning, etc. I was also impressed that there weren't many panhandlers out. I ate at a great little Italian restaurant just outside of Little Italy by the court house and city jail. A local police officer recommended it, said that's where the locals, judges, attorneys went. Great advice!
