  OT- Thinking about moving...
I spend a wonderful weekend in Potter County, PA. It was so nice to get away from all the hussle and bussle and just Relax.........................
I am seriously considering getting out of Jersey and moving to the sticks. Did a search on NotRot. The closest listed notary will be 87 miles away... Love the idea of NO competition, that's for sure.

No competition. Nice. Now prepare yourself for the "but it's only...XXX miles from you!" conversations.

one of the keys to being financially successful in this business is having a large quantity of homeowners in your vicinity. Potter County doesn't quite qualify. No competition with other notaries is because there are few people up there - notaries or otherwise.

I wasn't looking to move to Potter County.... but into the sticks for sure. The population of the 4 county coverage area I am looking at is 150,000 people. I am sure that would be enough to keep me working I am sure.

I moved up here from NJ almost 5 years ago and love it. I'm in Bradford County. It's a totally difference world up here. Hate going back to NJ to visit family.

I think you need closer to a half million or more. Or plan on driving a lot and listening to the whining. Body count is a heavy factor. And travel a limiting factor to quantity/day.

150,000 people? That sure doesn't sound like a big enough population to earn a living doing loan signings. I've thought about moving to Albuquerque NM and their population of 500K makes me think I'd have to change professions to do it!

Bad form to follow up my own post, I know
I just did a search on here for Albuquerque. 27 notaries came up. In my area 1071 notaries came up. Maybe it's more doable than I thought, lol.

500,000 people divided by 27 notaries is roughly 18,000 people per 1 notary.
Or in my case, 150,000 people divided by 1 notary is roughly 150,000 per 1 notary.
  150,000 still sound so bad???

  Leave the Garden state?
Why does NJ have all the nuclear dumps and NY all the lawyers?

  NJ got first pick.

My apologies to any barristers who took offense.
