I"m so tempted to make a smartass remark, but I'll refrain. Scroll back a page or two and you'll see that this has already been brought up.

But the Craigslist ad is a new angle. Lord knows that is THE place to get the quality signing agents that he was talking about. Maybe he'll start hanging signs on telephone poles or calling random numbers in the phone book to flesh out his database.

Here is the info from his website.
Now the signing fee is what they will pay their PAID members within 5 days, nonmembers have to wait 30 days:

Attention: New Loan Signing Agents
WE PAY IN FIVE DAYS!!
(5 business days upon escrow confirmation of receiving)

What we pay our Paid Members:
Single Set of Docs for Refinance or Purchase $75
(Docs shipped to notary):
Additional 2nd Set of Docs $40
Printing Fee, if docs are emailed $25
*Cancelled Signings are paid in full.
**Only signings without notary errors
Pre-Signing: $40
(Having the borrower fill out the broker’s initial documents)

Example: A single set of docs and the docs are emailed to the notary; the fee paid to the notary will be $100.

Notary Sign-Up rates:

Option 1 $99 for 1 year membership. (That's $8.25 per month)

Option 2 $149 for 2 years membership. (That's $6.20 per month)

Non-Member Policies: Pay within 30 days. Canceled signings are paid ½ of agreed signing fee.

*These charges are non-refundable. Neither of these options will be self renewing, which means we only charge your card once and we'll email you to renew after your account has expired. Then you can make the decision to renew. We look forward to doing business with you.

I'm trying to decide if he really thinks this is a good idea or if he is just cynical and crafty enough to know that there will be lots of people foolish enough to send him money...

Re: Pier National Notary~I think you just nailed them dead

to rights. I am sure that after the long discussion and multiple threads a lot of desperate people signed up. I have never seen such lack of business sense in any one place as I have from some of the visitors we get passing through these portals. They just think that we are a bunch of curmudgeonly useless old derelicts waiting to rain on their parade. I have found in the many years I have in business that sometimes the information offered in a matter-of-fact way is the best, pleasant or not. Some people only want ratification of their beliefs regardless of whether or not their vision is accurate. I've always believed that of all the people you should not lie to you should never lie to yourself: its a recipe for disaster!

Sage advice, Charles!

And sadly, probably lost to those who need it the most...
