I have a printer/scanner/copier. It's not exactly designed to be portable, but it's small enough to take with me to signings to copy ID's. It's a little HP that I picked up from Target. Is that what you're asking about, or are you referring to a more high-tech portable scanner?

I have a DocketPort, which is about 12" long by maybe 3" wide. It can be carried in a brief case, plugs into my laptop and gets power via USB, scans direct to a PDF file, and handles letter or legal size paper.

I had one, but it didnt last too long. It was a fairly decent one for about $129.00. They are really only good for scanning license and the reader fouls pretty easy. Not ideal for the bumps in the road from traveling. I find it much easier to have borrowers copy their license before I get there. Usually the docs are scanned to image which can be quite large at times. Great novelty but I wouldnt count on it as an essiential piece of equipment. IMHO
