Soooooo embarrassed when confirming with borrower - funny

Called to confirm an 11 am apt for tomorrow. He told me he gets home from work around 8am and to come earlier if I can. Not thinking I said "You'll be ready for bed when I get there". He said, sure thing sweetie, want to join me? I didn't know what to say other than my husband probably wouldn't like it. He laughed. I'm not looking forward to this. He's the only signer and single. Sounds a little older than I am, maybe?? Wish me luck. Hope he's cute and has a lot of assests and not much debt. lol

You didn't ask for advice but I have some.

Be short, to the point and professional. Don't give any mixed signals, keep a straight face when anything off color is said and keep flipping pages.

Maybe he will not make an ass out of himself.

Re: lol Johnny. I'm blushing now

Sorry. If he looks like Tom Brady, then have dinner with him. If not, be polite and professional and then run like a bat out of hell, as I have done many times

You've had to run from Tom Brady? Who woulda thunk it?
I really don't think LJ's husband would want her to be carrying any "plastic".
You are a strange bird Johnny B.

I think Brenda gave you great advice, but you probably have nothing to worry about - and I think your response was perfect. After all, he IS a guy, and you gave him the perfect opening for his remark. Maybe he was just trying to be funny. If he brings it up, you could either be honest with him and tell him that you didn't realize what you had said and were embarrassed the other day, and apologize OR you could simply smile weakly, ignore any reference to it and get right back to the business at hand. (I think I'd probably go with the latter.) And remember that most of the things we worry about end up being of little or no consequence...

If that guy gets frisky, them give him the brass knuckles. Guys will be guys, but look out for the nutcases, good luck, stay safe

Odds are, the borrower is embarrassed too.

He probably spoke 1st, thought later. Now I'D never do that, but a lot of people do...

I'll be fine. He sounded like a good ole country boy just having a little fun. This is a very rural area. I am glad this is a daytime closing though. I'm not bringing it up and will keep it professional and will dress very conservative although it is sooo hot here. I'll let you know how it went when I get back.
