Title Companies Confirming Assignements Via Email

Hi, I'm a new sigining agent and recieved a call last Thursday to do a signing tonight. I gave them my fees over the phone and they said they would send me the confirmation, which I haven't recieved yet and supposed to do this tonight. Is this a typical procedure? I didn't ask the time of the closing nor asked for more details of the assignment over the phone -- my mistake for not probing more. Is it safe to assume they found someone else cheaper or do I sit by my computer all night?
Alan

As a courtesy, I would call them back to see whether it's on

and if you're the SA assigned. Maybe it's just an oversight. If so, ask for the confirmation now. Generally those should come within an hour of your phone call from them. In fact, I usually get them within five or ten minutes.

Thanks Barb, I was just about to ask the question "how quickly they do confirm". I called but only got voicemail and sent an email.

Sometimes they "forget" to send the confirmation. As the others have said, no confirmation = no go to the assignment. If the TC sends you docs, but you still do not have a confirmation, do not print those docs! Call TC back and insist on a confirmation before going any further. The confirmation is the only way you have to prove who hired you and what the agreed fee was. If I had been called last Thursday and didn't have the confirm by now, I would assume it's off. If you can call the TC, if you still have their number in caller ID, that would be a good idea as someone else also suggested.

Re: Also check your bulk mail

Last week I received a confirmation in my bulk mail box. It didn't have the name of the company as the sender, just someone's name - something like "Ida Flatte". The subject line wasn't much better. I almost deleted it along with all the other spam mail advertising to make bigger body parts and sell cheap meds.

Re: Also check your bulk mail - Good Point!

I use G-mail and sometimes all docs and confirms from a particular company will go to my bulk folder. I have now trained myself to keep my bulk folder cleaned out so if the bulk folder suddenly indicates there is mail in it, I check to see if it's something from a TC.

Re: Check your spam box

I didn't even think of that - thank you all.

I ended up calling the co and they did infact forget to email the confirm. They confirmed and sent it moments after. The subject line didn't indicate the company. You'd think it would say something like closing tonight or something.

Re: Check your spam box

Things tend to get crazy towards the end of the month. It's probably a safe bet to never assume anything. This is a great example of why it is a good idea to always check with your client whenever in doubt about something.
