Wamu docs

Question on Washington Mutual Docs. I did a closing on Fri. 8/3 for a SS. I just received a call from SS stating that I forgot to notarize one of the documents. I asked the scheduler to
read the page to me. This is part of the Security Instrument there was 11 pages the 10page was the signature page with my notary stamp. The 11th page was stating borrower agreeing to the Security Instrument it did have a place for me to sign but no notarial wording. So to me I was just witnessing the borrower's signature not notarizing. I proceeded to tell SS that if that document required notarizing that there should have been notarial wording in place. Has anyone ran into this and do you notarize this ? They want me to pay for shipping docs back to me and then to them. Please don't hurt me to much LOL

Have them fax the page to you to see for yourself and check your instructions.

If there is no notary wording on the form, and your instructions didn't say to inculde a loose acknowledgement, then you did nothing wrong by not notarizing.

They just called me back stated that it was page 10 not 11 of the security instrument and that I notarized page 11 and signed but I didn't notarize or sign page 10 HUH????? the first person said yes I did sign but didn't notarize now the second person is stating that I didn't even sign so I requested again to fax to me so I can see.

As everyone has already mentioned, have them fax back the page. However, I am familiar with WAMU's policy and I find it strange that they want you to pay for shipping back. When I was with them they accepted a faxed page notarized by the NSA and the original FEDEX'd back. It can be considered a trailing doc for post closing to follow up on.

Two people I personally know never hit the NSA with the shipping charges. I guess their policy changed again for the 1000th time or you have someone overly doing their job.

JMHO

I closed a loan the other night - not a WAMU, but there was some goofy form in there like you are speaking of. It was a Prudential Relocation loan from Chicago Title. ALL of the notarial wording was wrong. It named the venue as some location in Arizona. I had to change them all. Then, out pops this form that HAS the correct venue on it, and it states "sworn to and subscribed before me, the undersigned officer, blah, blah, blah..." and then there was NO PLACE for the notary to sign. Nada - zip. There were 2 places for the borrowers to sign, but nothing for me. Frown Feeling left out, I attached a properly executed, blank ack and put a sticky on the original doc which read "So, where is the notary supposed to sign?" I know; I'm a smart alec. Can't help it sometimes. These types of stupid errors, to me, are inexcusable.

OK did not receive fax but did receive paperwork this morning. To me it looks as though page 10 was signature page for borrower and then there is a place for Notary to sign and all it says is Witness my hand and official seal with my Notary Public Signature line and commision expires line. Page 11 was the Acknowledgement which is where I signed and stamped because it did have the correct wording. To me page 11 was added for me to acknowledge because they new page 10 didn't have the correct wording. I did let them know again that this page will not be notarized only signed as a witness the Acknowledgement that I signed and stamped should be sufficent enough to record. Thank You for your replies. Just want to give heads up to anyone who completes a Washington Mutual Closing
