You know you're in trouble...

You know you probably have picked the wrong place for a weekend getaway when...

"Good afternoon, Laredo Chamber of Commerce."

"Hi. I'm calling from Austin. We're going to be doing some pottery shopping down there this weekend, and I'd like a list of bed & breakfasts in the area."

Pause.

"Laredo doesn't have any bed & breakfasts."

"No bed & breakfasts! In a town with a population of almost a quarter-million people! Where do you put up all the Yankee snowbirds?"

Pause.

"Mostly, we get NAFTA truckers."

"Okay. Can you give me a suggestion for a place down there where we can dance Friday or Saturday night? Anything but salsa; we don't do salsa; rhumba, yes, but not salsa."

Pause.
