I told my cellular provider to block all incoming text messages.

If the number showed up on your caller id, then Google it and you might find out some interesting information on it. I did that and one of the sites suggested I file a complaint with the FCC which I did. Of course, my expectations of anything being done are low. Meanwhile, since the numbers are showing up on my caller id on my cell, I stored it in my phone book and assigned a silent ring to it, so when these idiots do call my phone won't ring. So far this has worked. It seems to be only three or four numbers that keep calling. I also had to turn off all incoming text messaging ... Do not reply to any of those text messages. They may give you a choice of subscribing to some service at 9.95 per month and no matter what you answer, yes or no, you get subscribed.

We have 5 phones on our plan - the majority being teens/young adults and thas happened a few times. I do not want to block texts because I get messages/information from the kids and I text to them as well. I have found that our provider (AT&T) always takes the subscription charge off, although it takes a full billing cycle to see the credit. This was a major problem this past summer. After calling in every month for a couple of months, it has stopped. I hope this helps, especially if you donot want to block all text messages.

Re: Friday I had 4 of them

Yes, I got 4 of them this past friday they were all of those, "if you love Jesus share this with others" type of text messages. I didn't know the phone number it came from so, I deleted.

Before you deleted them...

did you make sure they weren't actually FROM Jesus? He does have your cell number, you know.

You can enter your phone number on the donotcall registry.

Have you registered on the no call list both your cell and home number? I was having the same problem until I registered all family and business numbers including Fax lines at the website below

The "do not call" list doesn't work with some of these guys as they are not legit. I did some reasearch and found that some of these are probably off-shore and don't care about any do not call list. The caller id may show 213-452-6539 (one of the many numbers involved), but the caller could be in Nigeria or Mexico. I found out that it is a pretty simple thing to send any number you want for a caller id or have a US number that you san send and receive calls from and still be out of the country. I have been chasing this for a while.
