Chase direct?

A woman called a while ago looking for a Notary Public to assist them with a few documents. She had found my name. As it is was really sleeting (mixed with snow) at this end of town, I asked her what it was she needed and her exact zip code. She and her husband needed someone to assist them with "some closing documents from Chase." They were sent to her directly with instructions to contact a local notary for assistance. So we chatted for a while and I provided her with five names from persons located half or less the distance to her than me. I did tell her if none was willing to help to call me back and we also discussed what she might expect within a range of fees for the HELOC.

As she hasn't called back, she must be using one of the names provided. She did say that the only name she had been provided was out of state and she didn't feel comfortable with that. Hope someone had a good afternoon.

Good for you, Vince/KS!

One of the very few downsides of successful advertising is the receipt of calls from people that we really can't serve at a reasonable fee.

If someone calls me from an area that I know is served by a reliable, honerable, competent Notary, I give aforesaid Notary's contact info to the caller _with my personal recommendation._ If not, and I'm at home, it's Notary Rotary plus ZIP Code to the rescue, with the caveat that I don't personally know the Notary / Notaries.

What goes around comes around.

The docs were a modification.
The instructions were for the borrowers to have two witnesses and that the notary couldn't be a witness.
I pointed out to the borrower that I couldn't be a witness, my husband could be one, but I couldn't.
They asked me to go ahead and notarize their signature anyway and they had my husband witness their signature.
This may not fly with Chase without the second witness, but they weren't the ones who hired me and "he who pays the piper calls the tune".
Betcha when they left here they had a friend witness their signatures after the fact, but, not my problem
