Christmas beef
Get a call last week wanting me to do a signing in a town 90 miles from here.
We agree on a fee of XXX.
It's for 11am today. I told them at the time it couldn't be later because I've got things to do on Xmas eve.
9am rolls around today and no docs. So I do other things.
I check at 10 and lo and behold docs are there. They came about 9:10. Nobody called me to say they were there. I guess they shouldn't have to...but most SS/TC do.
But, by now it'll put me well past 11 by the time I take driving and printing time into consideration.
I figure I'll call the borrowers anyway. I call them three different times....no answer.
I'm not going to print until I get confirmation that somebody will be there on the other end.
Then to boot I find out it's a reverse mortgage...which nobody told me about.
So..I call an 800 number..and get (presumably) the lender.
Tell them the deal and they're madder than a termite colony with no wood to eat.
I told them I don't call borrowers on e-docs until after the docs show up on my computer screen. (Been there done that). They weren't happy about that either.
They said the borrowers were probably shopping and knew about the 11am signing.
I reiterated my stance that I agreed to 11am...not 1pm, nobody told me about the reverse mortgage deal and I couldn't reach the borrowers.
Said the gal on the other end..."Well, I guess it won't go today. Thank you and we won't ever use you again."
I'm not sure about the "thank you."
My response is: " I hope you don't ever use me again."
And by the way...Merry Christmas and Happy New Year anyway.

"I told them I don't call borrowers on e-docs until after
the docs show up on my computer screen."
That sounds like a poor practice. IMHO, it is prudent to confirm appointments fairly soon after receiving the assignment. Also prudent is to mention at that time that sometimes edocs arrive too late to make the scheduled app't time, and if that should be the case, would the borrowers flexible to accomodate the tardy documents.
Pan, you recently displayed a remarkable lack of common sense by glibly posting a company's password on this public forum, jeopardizing their security and that of their borrowers. Now you complain because nobody held your hand to tell you docs were sent.
Your sense of entitlement is astonishing, and I'll be surprised if you receive any sympathy from the professionals here.

Why not Friday night or Saturday morning give them
a call just to make sure they weren't heading for the kid's home on Monday. At this point you could have told them about the possibilty of late docs, etc. My thought is this wasn't your finest hour and you possibly left someone else (the borrowers) in a holiday lurch.

Re: Why not Friday night or Saturday morning give them
I totally agree, how could you have even priced this job without knowing what type of loan it was? I'm sitting here waiting for docs that should have been emailed Friday night, everybody is in touch with everybody...meaning, me, the borrower and the tc. Communication is key.

I had just the opp problem today. Got docs on Friday but unable to confirm w/borrower. I called him 3x Friday & left mssg (1), left mssg Sat stating that I needed him to call me back to confirm because if I did not hear from him I would assume he was not closing, and then again today around 11am, stating that I had not heard from you & assume its cancelled for today. Lo & behold, get a call at 1:30pm oh, yeah I do want to close. He is lucky I am in a giving mood because I feel like saying too bad. He had all day Fri, all weekend & this morning to call & he waits until 1.5hrs before closing to confim. I normally wouldn't care but it is X-Mas Eve!!!

JMO: But most of your gripe seems to be lack of communication but yet you don't seem to grasp that you lacked communication.
"I told them I don't call borrowers on e-docs until after the docs show up on my computer screen. (Been there done that). They weren't happy about that either."
If I was the bo, lo, ss, tc or any1 involved in this I would be ticked off also. NO COMMUNICATION FROM THE MIDDLE PERSON.
what if bo was requested to have a copy of ID? and does not live close to access? By NOT calling as soon as you got their contact info you do not give them a chance to get that OR worse scenario... expired or no ID or any other probs that could be taken care of immed.
you are not showng any professionalism or communication in MO... and that posting previously of a pw... why do you think they are PW protrected w/ all that info? any posting on NOT/ROT shows up on ANY search engine

You definitely dropped the ball, your the one that should be tying up loose ends confirming the appt. with the borrower. I agree with others the call to the bo should have been upon receipt of order. When you confirm explain to them you may be late, I usually get the persons cell phone number if they have something to do I can alert them I'm on my way. You may have lost a good potential customer and in this environment we need to keep them not throw them away.
