Are e-signings available in all states. I'm unsure of Maryland.

FYI. I spoke with Betsy today (what a nice lady) She shared with me that you will be required to have a lap top with windows and the latest adobe reader. You will also need a wireless card. You will pull docs from a website and although some of the package will be electronically sent to them (the legals) such as the DOT, etc will be still be reguired to have a wet signature. So we will still need to print. I asked her about the fees but she said they it would basically stay the same.

<< You will also need a wireless card.>>

What would be the point of having a wireless card if the place where you're signing doesn't have wireless access?

You would need a wireless modem, which is something totally different and more cost to you when you use it - so if the fees are basically the same, you're losing money.

You would get this card from your cellular company so you would be using their system. It plugs into you laptop. Still would cost you money because you would have to sign a 1-2 year contract with ATandT, Verizon, etc. and it's running about 60 plus a month.

Cost factor to much vs return

Wireless card cost, upgrade plan because it will kill your minutes and spare battery for laptop. If the fee is the same I would need a "ton" of E-Signings in order to justify the cash and monthly cost for this.

When you realize you only do a couple a month you will be thankfull for edocs..lol

Re: Cost factor to much vs return

This is basically the same thing I said in another thread a few days ago (Msg #224149) but the SS told me I was off base with worrying about the cost of getting a laptop and aircard. I may have been a little high on the cost of the laptop, but I think he's way way too low on what a decent laptop will cost the notary (not all laptops have a slot to accept an aircard). I just downgraded my monthly aircard plan from unlimited service at $60 per month to 10 MB at $30 per month because I'm just not using it in these slow times. I would have to see what kind of fees this company is paying - if they pay my regular fee I would go for it. But I don't know if my regular fee is what they normally pay.

I can just hear the spin now............" But you aren't printing a whole package so your costs will even out."............... Yeah right.

Yep. I remember when NCS used to pay fair fees...that was 2+ years ago. I quit working for them when they lowered their fees to $100 for edocs. I did get a call last month (I missed the call) and the message said they would pay me $75 for edocs. Yeah, right. No thanks.

I feel for Betsy. I used to worked with her in the Rocklin office and she is a super-wonderful person. I think she is going to have a tough time finding NSAs that accept low fees and have the technology necessary to perform the eclosings. I have all the equipment required, but won't waste my time for low ball fees.

Betsy, If you're reading this, I would be happy to facilitate your eclosings in my area, but I do expect to be compensated fairly.

Re: E-SIGNINGS....as far as MD is concerned

I don't think Maryland will be jumping to get this party started anytime soon.
