FYI- SS# on Payroll Checks

Just got an e-mail from Quickbooks stating that some states have enacted where it is illegal to put employees Social Securty # on paychecks. These states are Maryland, Arizona, California, Michigan and Oklahoma. Texas is in the process of enacting this also.

I realize we don't have payroll taxes taken out of our checks and are not listed as "employees" of the companies we work with, but our spouses or other jobs may issue payroll checks with this info on them. It is illegal to do this anymore and another measure to prevent ID theft and fraud.
