FedEx Pak vs. Envelope
Title wants docs returned in FedEx Envelope, not Pak or my fee gets reduced. Before I order FedEx envelopes, has anyone used them? States it only holds 24 pages which does no good when returning 100+ docs. Thanks

I use envelopes for every package of docs - I would think that the docs would get mangled in the paks. If it's a double loan, those usually fit in there, too if it's FedEx. If I ever need to use a pak (usually for UPS since a double won't fit into those puny, flimsy envelopes), I put each loan in it's own separate envelope (labeled with borrower name, etc), then put both envelopes inside the pack. This prevents damage to docs in the paks.

Always always always use FE legal sized envelopes, unless instructed to do so otherwise. The client gets charged more for the paks, and the docs will be more protected. I opened an account, and have them delivered right to my office.

I always use the Legal Envelope when I can. But for very large packages, I use the FedEx Sturdy Pak (not the flimsy one) which is legal size and very strong. It expands to almost 2 inches.

If you use the Sturdy Pak instead of the Envelope, as instructed, it's a "PAK" therefore, they will reduce your fee
However, when I don't have the restriction, I too, use the Sturdy Pak instead of the regular large pak envelope.

On the FedEx Site...
...I see where they indicate (as you've just stated) their legal size envelope will hold "24 unfolded pages of legal size 8.5" x 14" paperwork". It'll hold a LOT more than that, be assured. Order 50 of them online & they'll be delivered right to your door.

I should hope it holds more
because the last thing I want to do is sort through 139 pages of refi just to stuff them into a bunch of envelopes.

Yes, I get an entire pkg (at least 150 pgs) in the envelope. I don't put a clip on them though. I use rubber bands. The clip can puncture the envelope if its too full. Trust me, I always use the envelopes. I only use the packs when I have 2 loans.

I hope you aren't putting your address as sender on the envelopes.

Sender address is always "me"
I've been using online airbills for years, always using my address as sender. But I always make sure the billing account number is correct. In over 15 years, I've only had ONE that was billed back to me, because I made a mistake with the account number. Other than that, thousands of packages sent billing recipient or third party, with absolutely no problem.

Re: Sender address is always "me"
Packs are a higher rate than envelopes which is why some lenders insist on envelopes.

Re: Sender address is always "me"
FYI, All the receiver of the package has to do is refuse the charge and FED EX will reverse the fees to the sender with an additional $10.00 fee for the reversal and charge it to your account or send you the bill and you will have to pay it because you were the sender, it's in the fine print of their shipping agreement. I know this because Residential Title in Tampa did this to me on 10 of their packages, they simple refused the charges and had them reversed back on me. I had a FED EX account at the time tied to my debt card (that is also another don't ever do) and they took $331.79 from my account and informed me of the fine print on the shipping agreement. Residential Title refused to reimburse me and I closed my FED EX account. I use the company's name & address as sender and receiver now and drop it at Kinkos. There is no way they can track that package to me. BTW, UPS will do the same thing. Please protect yourself and quit using your name and address as sender, you could get burned just like I did.

Re: On the FedEx Site...
The "24 unfolded pages of legal size 8.5" x 14" paperwork" is what they estimate will get you the letter rate (I think that's about 8 oz). You can stuff about 150 pages into that envelope; they'll charge by weight, so you can stuff 2 lbs of documents into a letter envelope designed to hold 8 oz. As long as you can seal it without busting the seams, they don't appear to have a problem accepting it.
