Merry Christmas everyone. Don't often post, always read. Prayers are offered for each of you and even more when special requests come in. I empathize and sympathize with all the trials and tribulations and respect you even when I don't agree. I am reflecting this morning while awaiting the bombardment of inlaws, outlaws, kids, grands and one new little great-grandson, on just how many things I have to be thankful for. When I began this signing agent journey in early 2002, I had been a notary since 1978 working mostly with auomobile titles in connection with our family business. I was only thinking of doing it part time. Husband got very ill and then died. I had to sell the family business, but by then this was a full time gig. I drew strength and knowledge from reading the posts that Sylvia and others wrote. I just want to say thank you and pray that 2008 is happy and prosperous for all of us.

Barbara, thank you for sharing that insight. My story
is somewhat similar. I found the gig after my husband died, and believe it or not, the crazy NSA life offered a bridge to recovery. It was a huge stepping stone for me, now I just dabble and watch but it got me back into what I do really well at...mortgage, legal, and title. I have a cool head more than ever which is a requirement in our kind of work. Slam me these days with a pile of files and I am cool as a cucumber.
I, too, appreciate you and every other poster for all the information and for just "being there".

Oh yeah, and Merry Christmas and to all others,
May your Holy Days be peaceful and full of hope.

Thanks again for day-brightener, Sylvia and fellow notaries
I read NotaryRotary a couple of times a day, lurk a lot and only post when I feel I can add something useful to a discussion. You all have lifted my spirits when I'm feeling low, added a huge store of valuable information that hones my skills and makes me a better notary and person, and widened my horizons. Thank you, one and all! At the moment we're making our first attempt to cook a goose. Thank heavens for the internet and all those wonderful recipes online. It's been in the oven about an hour and a half now. The difference between chicken and turkey and a goose is the tons of grease from the goose, which we're draining off with a baster. I'm parboiling the giblets to use the liquid for gravy. We wanted to make a wild rice/brown rice/chestnut dressing, but there are no chestnuts to be found anywhere in town! So I'm scouring the 'net for alternative ideas - we have wild rice, brown rice, onions, celery, tangerines, pecans, fresh parsley, eggs, most spices (but no marjoram). If any of you can suggest a really good recipe using any or all of these ingredients and that can be cooked outside the goose, please share. Would you chop up and add the giblets or not?
