Notary Beware - AYC Signings

I wrote this in reply to another posting but feel the message about this company should get out there further:
This is an interesting discussion. I was looking for a place to vent my experience with AYC Signing when I found you. I have to agree with the original notary, Nutmegger. The issue she had really was the treatment she received. This month I, too, have been treated unprofessionally by the one representing AYC - don't know if the name should be printed. I did a closing for them on 10/26, having been emailed that payment would be "within 30 days". It was a good closing, and I am a professional person and detail-oriented. I received no feedback or complaint. On 11/30 I emailed her telling her " Will you, please, look into why I haven't received your check yet? My mailing address is... " and I gave the address, which is a p.o. box. Her reply tersely was "it was paid on November 23, 2007, check #...". Thanked her for checking for me. A week later no check so I emailed again to let her know. She said "it had not been cashed yet, it was sent to ... [my street address], is this the correct address?" Anyone who looks at my profile here or elsewhere will find my p.o. box as my mailing address and packages should go to the street address. She found me here and I also gave my mailing address as I emailed her to check on it. So I gave it again to her reply. On the 10th she called asking for my correct address! I re-sent my email to her. She emailed me again tersely saying: "Yes, I need your correct address." On 12/21 I wrote: "I have not received your payment yet - 3 weeks now. Please send another check, if you have not already, this week, by 2nd day air FedEx or UPS on Monday. I will have to wait after the holiday but it would be a more sure thing to have it sent that way. With this means you can send it to the street address you originally used. You have to admit, I have been patiently waiting to be paid. IF it comes on Saturday, I will email you right away." Her answer: "I have been waiting for 3 weeks to hear back from you. You never gave me the correct address. And no I will not send it over night.
Please send me you correct address asap. " [My emails were not returned undeliverable.]
Do you think she read any of my emails, in which I gave her my address, or used this site to look it up again? I don't think so.
My repy to her was that another company did this also and they offered to send it next day air for me, acknowledging their error and my inconvenience, and also my good job done. So I thought that was nice and I would ask AYC to do the same thing. Her reply, "Whatever you want to think. Do you want me to use the P. O. Box??????????????? Please send me the correct address. "
Disturbed at her attitude with me, being honest with you, my next reply was, "... Do you own this company you represent? Where do you get off with this attitude toward someone who did good work for you? Did you have a problem with my package or something? I do not deserve this at all." 'nuff said. How would you take this, my fellow notaries?

This individual is a bully!!!!!!

I experienced this hassle once and I did tell that it is better for them to honor the contract at the time that an order with a number was settled with a fee.

I am sorry that this individual is abusing your kindness. I would not put up with it and/or agree to this second class behavior. An official of the state should never have to accept mistreatment.
As a matter of fact, it would be better for her to come to an agreement with you because you completed the assignment thoroughly. Therefore, it is mandatory that she pays for your work without delay because you completed the assignment. It is a good idea to let she knows that you do not work for free. Why should you work at no cost?

In situations like this I generally try to resolve the problem on a friendly basis first. It sounds like you have already done that. When ll attempts at a friendly resolution fails, and I get the feeling that the delinquent client is simply breaching the contract...I find that serving them with a summons works wonders. I usually am in receipt of payment within a week thereafter.

While it certainly appears to be a 'diversion' tactic on her part - sometimes the quickest way to communicate is to pick up the phone, and skip the e-mail ping-pong game.

In email can have a "received confirmation" attached to it. In outlook it is very easy and you get a return email that it was read and the time. Then you have proof that the email was opened and read. Also, you can then foward this recepit to anyone that claims they did not get your email and prove to them that they did. I can bet you will not get the run around if you use this with you email service. Just a thought!

i am wondering why you were so 'nice' and kept emailing and emailing and emailing. by the 2nd no show i would pick up and phone and sweetly inform them they have breached the contract and they have 5 business days to get my check or i will be filing papers.

All excellent suggestions. I will actually use them, if I haven't already. I do use the email receipt option. I have received another email today telling me to send her my mailing address - all in caps, at that. I have sent it one more time; I will call by the end of the week IF I have not received the check that she just told me "has been sitting here since Nov. 24th" - the day after she said it was sent to me. I just wanted to alert my "co-workers", who I know work hard for the money, that this is another one to watch out for. There is no BBB listing for them in Alabama and do my research. I took a chance and all was well until "payday". I do feel she intended to pay me, but is not willing to go out of her way to make it good. It is the attitude that has dirtied their reputation. I do still hope to get paid - this week. I will let you know the end. Thank you all.

Thank you for your response.
I am sorry that this individual still playing with your mind. Again, I would not tolerate such type of behavior. This is a NO! NO! I truly believe that you and I have many alternatives to resolve this negative individual way of doing business.

I said I will tell you the end of the story so, bottom line is I just got paid this week- end of the month - one month later. This person was very unprofessional and I will not allow someone to treat me that way again. You know what they say, "once burned, shame on YOU, twice burned shame on me". Signing agencies and title companies would not expect us, as signing agents, to act unprofessionally, why should we tolerate that treatment either? Just don't give them the business.
May all your signings be successful.

Candice is very very difficult to work with. She tells the notaries to be professional, but in turn, she is the one needs to correct her inadequacies. I have worked with her twice (shame on me) Both times, have been paid, but has taken over 90 days each one. The last signing I did, I called several times for payment and her answer was, "When I get paid from the lender, I will pay you". BS---I called the lender, the lender informed me the bill was already paid and was quite disturbed to find out Candice had not paid the notary. Within 2 weeks, I received a check and a letter from the lender saying that if AYC is not paying their notaries, the lenders business will stop with AYC. Sometimes, you have to contact lender to get paid. That is the last time I am taken by AYC.
