Oh good grief!
Email from DRI Title. They want our pictures to send to borrowers prior to the signing. I can understand wanting to reassure the borrowers. My Response.
"I would be happy to show photo ID to the borrowers. I also carry a copy of my Notary commission. The female Realtors in this area have been advised in the past not to use their photos in marketing and on their business cards. There have been incidences of them being called to list a home based on their appearance, blondness or more advanced age. And some have had some close calls. I personally have been sent to one borrower twice who acted oddly enough that I looked him up on the court site. He had just gotten out of serving 7yrs for rape. It's a nice thought, but I would think you would better serve your borrowers by screening your notaries better. Most importantly check their state Secretary of State office to confirm their Commission. Most states have that available online. Or ask for proof of commission."
This is more of an issue of our safety and privacy than anything. Perhaps they should send pictures of everyone involved in the transaction. The danger of home invasion in the metphorical sense, is greater with those selling a loan.

I wondered if anyone was going to post about this, and I was curious about what others, including you, would think about it. I'm not sure what I think about it. If the TC wants to know what I look like, they can look at my profile or website. Seems to me the borrower simply needs to be provided with the name of the person who will be contacting them, and when I do, voila, they've got their confirmation as to my legitimacy.

Well said. I wonder what the real impetus is for their new
policy? Imposter SA?
And, I agree that it is the notary who is at great risk coming to the public, as well as borrowers in the jaws of the sharks.

I want pictures of the borrower sent to me prior to meeting with them. If I don't like their looks, I'm not going.
===========
Satire above; but that is what this smacks of.
What possible good does sending a picture ahead do for the borrower?

<<<<What possible good does sending a picture ahead do for the borrower?>>>>
The only thing I could fathom would be that they would "recognize" us when we showed up...but that doesn't hold water, either. I can't imagine that an "imposter" might show up at the same time? LOL Good grief is right!

Screw pictures of the borrowers, I want pictures of the inside of their house. If I find the conditions not up to my standards, they can meet me at the local chain restaurant....Yeah, right. Ridiculous.

Any time that DRI has called me it has been for same day. I have to assume that they would not have had the time to contact bor. to send photo anyway. And how is bor. to get this photo? email? Snail mail? Good Grief is right!
Next thought - are they looking for blonds? Young? Is this another stereotyping? Another ageism in process?
What will they want next? Bathing suit competition? Evening wear competition? One of the advantages of this job is that I have the same age as everyone else, same body shape, same characteristics as the next person in the scheduler's mind.
My 'photo' to the bor. is the confirmation call: where I tell the bor. who to expect on their doorstep, what car they will see parking/parked in their driveway/street and that I will be wearing red shoes. I almost always give id clues to my bor. so that they will not be fearful of opening the door - there is always something I can pass on to them.

How will they get said picture to borrower?
I on the other hand won't mind sharing my "Adonis" face and figure around, though some would say it's more like Alfred E. Neuman.

Re: How will they get said picture to borrower?
They said they would email it to the borrower. I just checked, the latest picture I have of me is sitting on the couch in my pj's with a cowlick and a cup of coffee. The cats tail is in my face. When I think about it, the cowlick and the cat tail are often present at the signing table.

This is a lawsuit waiting to happen
What is this idiotic company thinking? Unless it's an acting or modeling job where what you look like can matter, this type of thing is pretty much illegal.
What are they going to do when borrowers start rejecting signing agents because they don't like black people or Asian people or Middle Eastern people or fat people or........
Just when you think you've seen it all in this industry, something can still come along and amaze you with its idiocy.

Another thought
In a sense it could been seen as using our image for marketing and overshadowing our qualifications. Since I am not an employee of their client I don't see the need to help promote their services by the implication that I am that close of a team member. It smacks of endorsement.

Is this someone's fix for an actual problem, or a PR
kind of thing? I asked a company once why they didn't want a copy of the bo's ID. It was to preclude any perceived reason for approving/denying the loan. Discrimination.
Every reason given above, and I'm sure there are many more, all point to a real ugly can of worms.

FWIW, DRI has never been able to meet my fee to begin with
And I like Becca's idea of a photo of the innards of the premises....let ME decide if I want to go in there, lol

Good grief! is right....
They have never met my fee either, even though they are a title company. How about this DRI TITLE....
I want a picture i.d. of all borrowers and I also want a criminal background check sent with the picture i.d. We are the ones that can be raped, assaulted or even killed. We are going into sometimes hostile territory and we are the ones that are putting our life in danger. We go into "crack-ville" or listen to spouses argue over dividing up the property in their divorce. I even saw a mother one time, after she signed the deed over to her ex-husband, told her daughter to tell her daddy goodbye, she wouldn't be seeing him anymore. He followed his daughter out to the car and cried while signing his new loan docs.

Re: Good grief! is right....
I agree Loretta, there have been instances where you walk in and can't wait to walk out. Next they will want to know if you are handicapped, well that is where I can jump in and send them a picture of my foot, part is missing and only have 4 toes. hey, I know I can ask for a higher fee and when they do not meet my fee I can cry discrimination. What is this coming to anyway. I have emailed DRI back and told them what they can do with this, and yes I was polite..........
