Overnighted loan documents -- no borrower's copies
I received the loan documents this morning from FedEx for the closing that I am doing tomorrow. There are no borrower's copies. It's a purchase, so there is no right to cancel.
Nevertheless, the borrower is entitled to have a copy of the documents at the closing, in my opinion. I called the signing company and told them that there were no borrower copies. They called the title company. The title company just called me and said that the borrower does not have a set of copies already.
I told him that I'm willing to make a copy. He said, okay, but wondered if it would be going out of my way.
It's not out of my way, ** IF ** the company is willing to pay for it. But I just spoke to them and they said that they WON'T pay me an additional fee for making copies. There are 79 pages.
I asked for $10 to cover the cost of printing and whatever travel I do to go to the copy center. The title company also sent me some revised documents to print.
If these were edocs, then the borrower would definitely be getting copies. But this is a time when the borrower will not be getting copies tomorrow. She will have to wait until the title company sends them to her.
If they can't afford to pay me $10 to make a set of borrower's copies, then I can't afford to spend $10 out of my pocket to make them. Sorry.

It's on them. But, inasmuch as there is no RTC, it's a done deal when you leave. It's up to them to get (signed) copies to the B.

Don't you have a copier at home? Not that I would do it for free at home either, but it's not something I would have to head over to Kinkos to do.

>> Don't you have a copier at home? <<
I have 2 copiers.
But if the company is not going to pay me for making copies, why should I waste my paper, toner, and time? And why should I do it on my slow-speed copiers, when I can get it done in a fraction of the time using high-speed copiers?
What's the point of the question? They're not paying.

You shouldn't make copies if they're not paying you for it, that wasn't my question. I was just wondering why you'd drive to a copy center to do it if you've got a copier at home.
As for the time issue, I can't imagine it's quicker to drive somewhere to copy 100 pages on a high speed copier than it is to do it at home on a slower speed copier.
As for the point of the question, what was the point of your post in the first place? You're free to post your story, I'm free to ask questions about what you post, you're free to ignore my questions if you want to.

Is it me or what?
I'd do it without hesitation and with a huge smile on my face. With the exception of shipping, my fees are all inclusive. If this was a purchase, I'd even be emailing executed funding docs. I wouldn't be nickel and diming a company these days, and it is paying off for me. JMO

It is just you!
You charge the same fee for edocs that you do overnight docs, even though its taken you a lot more time & resources. That seems just crazy to me!

Not exactly, Shannan.
<<<You charge the same fee for edocs that you do overnight docs>>>
But, I charge the same fee for overnight docs that I do for e-docs!

Re: It is just you! Yep...I do too.
The usual is edocs. How many times have you gotten a package o/n only to have a pile of title docs come that you have to print? Or, the package is delayed and you have to re-negotiate because it's going to be edocs? Just quote them a price that's all inclusive and you don't nickel or dime every thing.

That has also been my experience, Brenda, and the reason I handle my fee schedule the way I do.

Re: Is it me or what?
I would do it also, Misterella. I'm an all inclusive girl too.
I charge enough when I work so that I can cover whatever the issue is. Saves time.
There's a company Statewide, I think, which always sends the pkg that way.I haven't worked for them in years b/c they will not go over $75...and you always have to make the copy.
