Question for NY Notaries

I just recently registered with about 20 companies. How long does it take to get an actual assignment? I have been Notary for 4 years, but never realized the potential income as a signing agent until just recently. Please advise.. Thanks!

Where in NY are you? Here's the only thing you need to know about becoming a signing agent at this point in time:

Elvis has left the building.

The "potential income" here is quite small, even though the real estate market hasn't tanked as much as it has in other states. I'm on Long Island - I'm still seeing re-fi's, reverse mortgages, and loan modifications, but the fees offered now are less than they were a year ago. This is not a great time to get into the business, and signing up with only 20 companies will probably get you nothing; 200 might get you a call or two, but be careful about the bottom feeders like SOX and Signatures Plus.

Good luck to you. Most of the questions you will have can be answered using the orange "Search" button, but if you can't find the answer there, feel free to ask.
