SS Bashing....

OK Im ready for Wednesday...Smile

Anyone else out there pissed people print at work? Guess what...they use the phones for personal calls also! OMG! Should I ask if they deposit a quarter on their bosses desk after each personal call recieved or made?

I thought this would be a great forum to get to know notaries and information pertaining to our industry, but I am thinking are we NOT welcome here? Ill quit if there is a problem and you want me outta here. Is this forum for notaries only? I thought we would be ok considering the ratings and reviews we have recieved fom your peers in signing central, however only one of you has had anything nice at all to say.

Thanks for the "shocked at the forum response" reply. I was shocked too...Everyone just sitting around waiting to pick apart each line of a post and bash it...sad but true.

it's what we do. I'm on break from painting a ceiling, so looking down a great relief right now.

Read lots here - we do it all the time. We don't have enough to do right now - our jobs are in the toilet, ready for another flush, CTD (circling the drain), down we go. It is a time to fortify our resolve, to re-examine our own ethics, making sure our integrity is intact, making adjustments, tweaking ourselves to be sure we are ready for what comes next.

As BrendaTx and many others have said: This is not a busines for thin-skinned people. This is business. This is also a place for the individual to shine as best as possible because we know TC's, SS's, lenders, etc. stop by and observe and we want to be known as not only getting the job done, but with great value added. Like it or not, we are all advertising ourselves at all times,
though,
I admit,
sometimes childishly. (You should see when the spelling police arrive!)

Thats really the part I dont get....Everyone in this Forum daily...maybe what 50 total nationwide...talk about this and that...and quality and professionalism...Cmon...It is not an easy job...but its not brain surgery either...The fee issue is really going to hurt people..If they think people will pay more for their "qualified" resume they are sadly mistaken...i can tell in under 10 questions if a notary is qualified for my clients. Although we dont hire new ones very often..We found a lot off this site that work under our fee schedule..and guess what..they aren't brain surgeons either..but they are qualified notaries.. Technology will shortly,1-2yrs., lower costs and fees paid. Just like it did for the brokerages and now you trade stock for 8 bucks we will be lucky to get minor travel fees and 10 bucks a sig. in CA. As soon as lenders get the paperless loans really cranked up...first half 08'...Our fees will go DOWN! Its inevitable.

Ok. here it is... have at it Smile

There comes a point that the law of diminishing returns comes into play. Is it worth my time to print out docs, use my gasoline at $3.35 a gallon, maintain my commission, and all the other myriad costs to net maybe $8-10 an hour? I don't think so.

Here's the Part You "Don't Get"...

...as this discussion has primarily centered around comments you've made which are in direct contradiction to one another & have led some of us to question your business ethics. The distinct impression you've left with me (and more than a few others) is you're willing to compromise integrity for the sake of the almighty dollar. I think you've made it very clear it matters not if you KNOW whether someone under your direction (even it's solely an independent contractor relationship) is committing either an illegal or highly unethical act. All that matters to you is getting the job done for the cheapest & "best" price possible.

BTW, you have corrected the spelling of my last name for your records haven't you?

Dennis...go get a signing...get off the couch...get off the board and stop picking my frankness apart for your use....I have never condoned the type of behavior you speak of and YOUR peers rank me and my company very highly....Just trying to have a discussion on daily goings on..but all of a sudden after Dennis posts I only hire notaries that print on their bosses dime...Your ridiculous...get a job!

PS..I havent corrected your name spelling...Why should I...I thought you want nothing to do with my service?

I Guess I Shouldn't Be, But...

...I'm just amazed when a SS comes on the NoRot board (designed for Notaries & SA's to talk shop), makes conflicting statements, says they're such a good guy that EVERYONE is doing business with them, gets in arguments with the very people they say they want to hire (would the term "Notary Bashing" fit?), changes the topic when they can't explain themselves, & ends up placing words in the mouth of a poster (me, when you said I posted you ONLY hire Notaries that print on their bosses dime). As for the correcting of the spelling of my last name, I mentioned that since you misspelled it in an earlier post. I'm sure you maintain a database of Notaries you never want to call. I only want to make certain you don't contact me by mistake in the future. Based on this little tete-a-tete I'm relatively assured of that not transpiring, but one must be very, very cautious in this industry.

By the Way...

...thank you for reminding me about the NotRot ranking system for companies. I've just gone in to Signing Central & deposited my .02 on your company. My remarks simply point to message #'s 224076, 224176, & 224379 as the reasons for my ranking. I'll let anyone interested in finding out about you do so on their own, via your words. They speak quite well for themselves.

Thanks Dennis...Your cool...Even though you have never worked with/for me or my company before you'll bash me on signing central...You will completely ignore the opinions of your peers....Showing great respect for them as well...Now Im the one without integrity right? Hmmm...maybe it's YOU...True colors....dont be so bitter, dude. get a job.

The Only Way You're Being "Bashed"...

...on Signing Central is via my ranking. You're not attempting to deprive me of my NotRot right to do that, are you? Otherwise I feel I'm being completely fair by directing people searching for good companies & who happen to come upon your signing service to view with their own eyes what you have to say. I'll let them make their own decision, just like I've made mine. By the way, with every single post you make you only further validate my original opinion. I came close to giving you the benefit of the doubt in one of my posts...not any more.

I'm curious, what are those 10 questions?

Other than "what's your fee," and "how far do you travel" I very rarely have a signing service ask me questions to determine my qualifications. What questions do you ask when hiring someone new? And if I missed it, what IS the fee that you pay to attract quality agents?

OK...Thanks for the PM's

Its been made clear now...there are the regular posters who I have been warned to avoid...I wish I was comfortable enough to share the flood of PM's from notaries to my inbox...but they will get bashed as well...As a matter of fact, many feel the way I do...this is people sitting around waiting to eye stab and throat slash...especially for an SS.

Thanks for all the PM's...much appreciated...I was about to just walk, but there may be some good here after all. Looking forward to working with the people who want it...To the rest...enjoy Oprah today!

Ok...

Not sure why you posted this under my comment. I didn't bash you, I didn't attack you, I didn't say anything personal. I've simply asked you to tell us the 10 questions you ask to determine the qualifications of the NSAs you hire and what fee you pay to attract quality agents. Those are fair and legitimate questions.

Haven't read the rest of the thread yet, but here's hoping you tank and the expert independent signing agents get paid their due.

Trends are moving to quality rather than faster, cheaper crappo production which is OH so last month.

you obviously understand supply and demand...lower demand means you get higher fees right? Brilliance at its best!

I hope you dont overbook your brain surgeries...Wouldnt want a less qualified brain surgeon for less of fee....

What a jack**s! he even makes funny of us notaries.

Most of you "SSs" all you do is just schedule the appt. and then hold our fees for a few weeks.

Re: Some of us are still doing in excess of 100 signings/month

Business has picked up again. I am not back to the 100+ closings a month prior to July 07 but I can't complain, I did a closing for a person in the town next to me this morning and they do the same thing. Since the summer they avg 5 closings a month. YIKES...

I have done 10 since 12/1 and have 5 more on the books till this Friday. My daily avg use to be 5 loans/day now its around 3/day.

Re: Some of us are still doing in excess of 100 signings/month

This is not pointing to you ME/NJ, I just posted it here. I "chose" to take the day off yesterday to do my billing and rearrange my office.
To Mr. Express Notary, I have a wonderful office in my home, great tax write off, I can type up my title work, print docs and watch Oprah at the same time. When I am on the road, I take my trusty laptop and read while waiting for my next closing. Sylvia, Brenda and Becca are just a few people on here that I love to watch post. I get most of my comedy jokes from this site. Smile
I am really getting a little bored watching people post about how we have to take such low fees because "this is a sign of the times". Get off that kick. Every title company I work for pays $125 and higher; maybe you live in a low ball world but I don't.......and I am here to stay. Again, it's because I do the title work for the title company and then they hire me to do the closing. Works great for me.

I suspect Loretta that your business model is going to be the future in this business, the Title Producer/Notary Closer, makes sense to me and overcomes all the problems of unlicensed notaries!

Re: Some of us are still doing in excess of 100 signings/month

I personally think that Maryland did a great thing by passing that law. Mandatory classes, mandatory continuing education and their mandatory fees (bonds,e&o) make it easier for me to charge extra and make it easier for the title companies to say yes. They are paying for experience and expertise. I already went through the process of finding every notary here that is not licensed and doing closings here in Maryland and turned them into the Maryland Insurance Admin. The fines go not only to the notary but also to the title company/signing service that hired them.
