giving holiday gifts
Would it be ethical to send coupon for $ off next closing?

"Would it be ethical to send coupon for $ off next closing?"
Depends. Would that be on top of the "do me a favor and accept this lowball fee" discount? LOL J/K

Why discount your fees? Do you feel you are worth less during the holidays? Once you lower your fee or offer a deal, you'll never get them to pay the higher fee again...EVER.

My take is that it sounds like you are trying to drum up business by offering discounted fees, I would never offer lesser fees to any company. But now if it is the other way around, then gift certificates are greatly appreciated.........Spa Day anyone?

I wouldn't do it Michelle You are too good a signing agent to discount your fee, even at holiday times.
If you really want to send something make it a small gift, not more than $15-$20. Companies shouldn't expect anything.

I just thought seeing how I couldn't give just one person in the office gift and not get anyone else one. So I thought that I would give a discount coupon on the next closing (not on all closings) to the company. Client would send in the coupon to redeem his money off the closing. I have alot of great clients out there (and no they are not lowball clients) they pay me very well. I apologize if this was a bad ideal but I always seem to be last minute on everything Heck I haven't even bought for my kids yet. I figured yes it would take money out of my pocket but all and all easy to send a card with coupon then fight the pesty crowds and a I can't make up my mind kind of thing. OK I gotta come up with something. Sylvia you are so good for my ego.

A "discount" isn't a gift. Send a card. Don't give away fees that we already work so hard to get to reasonable levels.

How about just maybe sending a gift certificate for a pizza or something like that. The office staff could have it for their lunch.

I think either a Starbucks gift card is always nice or if it is for the whole office, the Popcorn Factory has some very nice gifts.
