1st time notary signer
Hello,
I just finished my online course and would like to get some hands on experience. I email notaries in my area to see if anyone would be willing to let me sit in on a closing or two I also offered a small fee, but no one has responded. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Lisa Florida is saturated with signing agents. No one wants to train their competition. Just study all you can.

Sylvia, I know exactly how you feel. I remember not too long ago my first signing. I was afraid i would do everything wrong because no one would let me go with them on a signing. I actually do tax preparation for a living as well and asked a clients daughter if I could go with her because I knew her and I would do her taxes as a thank you. She never called me either. I went on my first signing and did just fine. I just explained each document to them (I was explaining them to myself at the same time) and after the signing I looked over the closing notes and verified all signatures and dates. It took me about an extra fifteem minutes. Then I went home to finish up the loan packet.
Breathe and just go, if you have any questions, call the lender and they will assist you. Remember to look for spots on deeds etc. for initials and check spelling and finalize with going over the closing instructions. I always get ID's and signatures forst in my book so I don't forget as well.
Good luck.

Lol, Mary
I think you mixed up the names. Sylvia is a certified notary instructor! It was Lisa who's new. BTW, be careful "explaining" the docs, you don't want to mess with UPL!

Despairaging news this. I’ve had a record number of emails sent to me by loan signers across the country that basically say the same thing; “being a signing agent just isn’t working out. There’s just not enough work. What should I do?”
I’m an optomistic person, me. But they aren’t wrong. The loan industry has been crawling to hault in most states over the past year.

For certain, the spelling errors made by this particular notary couldn't have been a boon to their business.
